Purposes and Assumptions of Islamic Futures Studies [PDF]

open access: yesبهبود مدیریت, 2014
Futures Studies is a knowledge based on practice and cannot be merely shaped by theoretic thoughts. Therefore we can not describe futures studies well until it has got practical.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Establishing a safe community program: a qualitative systematic literature review

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Research objective Accidents are a leading cause of preventable deaths in many countries around the world. Non-fatal but disabling health consequences account for a significant portion of the injury and harm resulting from accidents.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Iranian university students’ alcohol-related knowledge, attitude, and practice questionnaire (ISKAP alcohol Q): development and psychometric properties

open access: yesBMC Psychology
Introduction Given the strict prohibition of alcohol use in certain religions, such as Islam, and the criminalization of its production, distribution, and consumption in a country like Iran, it becomes essential to utilize a standardized and culturally ...

Alternative futures of rural areas in the EU; A comparative analysis of scenaria studies [PDF]

open access: yes
What does rural Europe look like in 2030? Is agriculture still the main land user? In recent years, studies such as ESPON, Eururalis, SCENAR2020, SENSOR, SEAMLESS and PRELUDE have tried to address these questions.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
