Surface Dependent Dual Recognition of a G-quadruplex DNA With Neomycin-Intercalator Conjugates

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
G-quadruplexes have been characterized as structures of vital importance in the cellular functioning of several life forms. They have subsequently been established to serve as a therapeutic target of several diseases including cancer, HIV, tuberculosis ...

New findings on the d(TGGGAG) sequence: Surprising anti-HIV-1 activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The biological relevance of tetramolecular G-quadruplexes especially as anti-HIV agents has been extensively reported in the literature over the last years. In the light of our recent results regarding the slow G-quadruplex folding kinetics of ODNs based

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.

Effects of Central Loop Length and Metal Ions on the Thermal Stability of G-Quadruplexes

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
The central loop of G-quadruplex molecular beacons is a key element to sense target DNA or RNA sequences. In this study, circular dichroism spectroscopy (CD), thermal difference spectrum (TDS), non-denatured non-denaturing gel electrophoresis, and ...

Quadruplexes In ‘Dicty’: Crystal Structure Of A Four-Quartet G-Quadruplex Formed By G-Rich Motif Found In The Dictyostelium Discoideum Genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Guanine-rich DNA has the potential to fold into non-canonical G-quadruplex (G4) structures. Analysis of the genome of the social amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum indicates a low number of sequences with G4-forming potential (249–1055).

Folding landscape of a parallel G-quadruplex [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2019
Circular dichroism and stopped-flow UV spectroscopies were used to investigate the thermodynamic stability and the folding pathway of d(TGAG3TG3TAG3TG3TA2) at 25C in solutions containing 25 mM KCl. Under these conditions the oligonucleotide adopts a thermally stable, all-parallel G-quadruplex topography containing three stacked quartets.

A hybrid G-quadruplex structure formed between RNA and DNA explains the extraordinary stability of the mitochondrial R-loop [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In human mitochondria the transcription machinery generates the RNA primers needed for initiation of DNA replication. A critical feature of the leading-strand origin of mitochondrial DNA replication is a CG-rich element denoted conserved sequence block ...

Comprehensive Characterization of 98 Chinese Cases of Genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob Disease With T188K Mutation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the demographic, clinical, and laboratory features of the Chinese patients of genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob disease with T188K variant (T188K‐gCJD), the most common subtype of genetic prion diseases (gPrDs) in China. Methods In this nationwide retrospective study, data from 98 genetically confirmed T188K‐gCJD patients ...
