Mammalian G1 and G2 phase checkpoints.
Cancer surveys, 1997This present review explores the mechanisms for DNA damage induced G1 and G2 arrest in mammalian cells. The complexity of the TP53 pathway is attested to by the variety of genes regulated by TP53, many of which require further investigation to bring their importance into focus. One gene intensely studied, p21, has been linked to the G1 arrest mechanism

Imidazoacridinones arrest cell-cycle progression in the G2 phase of L1210 cells
Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, 1996Imidazoacridinones are a new class of highly potent antineoplastic agents synthesised at the Technical University of Gdansk. The pharmacophoric alkyldiamine group, which is also present in anthracenediones (e.g. ametantrone, mitoxantrone), has been shown to be responsible for their antineoplastic activity.

BESIDES replicating their genetic material and subsequently partitioning it between two daughters, cells of higher organisms also generally contain two distinct periods during their growth cycle in which they are engaged in neither activity. The first of these is a gap which occurs between the completion of one division and the onset of the next round ...

Chromosomal Radiosensitivity During G2 Phase and Susceptibility to Plasmacytoma Induction in Mice
1986Genetic differences in susceptibility to plasmacytoma induction among inbred strains of mice are well documented. Whether induced by i. p. implantation of plastic discs or injection of pristane, the BALB/c mouse, in contrast to most other commonly used inbred strains, is significantly more susceptible (Merwin and Redmon, 1963; Morse et al., 1980 ...

Dehydroleucodine inhibits vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation in G2 phase.
Cellular and molecular biology (Noisy-le-Grand, France), 2006Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation plays an important role in the development of atherosclerosis and in the vascular changes seen in hypertension. Dehydroleucodine (DhL) is a sesquiterpene lactone that inhibits cell proliferation in plant cells.
