Replication‐independent chromatin loading of Dnmt1 during G2 and M phases [PDF]

open access: yesEMBO reports, 2004
The major DNA methyltransferase, Dnmt1, associates with DNA replication sites in S phase maintaining the methylation pattern in the newly synthesized strand. In view of the slow kinetics of Dnmt1 in vitro versus the fast progression of the replication fork, we have tested whether Dnmt1 associates with chromatin beyond S phase.

Selective methioninase-induced trap of cancer cells in S/G2 phase visualized by FUCCI imaging confers chemosensitivity

open access: yesOncoTarget, 2014
A major impediment to the response of tumors to chemotherapy is that the large majority of cancer cells within a tumor are quiescent in G0/G1, where cancer cells are resistant to chemotherapy.

Replicatively senescent cells are arrested in G1 and G2 phases

open access: yesAging, 2012
Most human somatic cells do not divide indefinitely but enter a terminal growth arrest termed replicative senescence. Replicatively senescent cells are generally believed to arrest in G1 or G0 stage of the cell cycle. While doing cell cycle analysis on three different lines of normal human fibroblasts we observed that 36-60% of the replicatively ...

G2 phase cell cycle arrest in human skin following UV irradiation [PDF]

open access: yesOncogene, 2001
The contribution of the short wavelength ultraviolet (UV) component of sunlight to the aetiology of skin cancer has been widely acknowledged, although its direct contribution to tumour initiation or progression is still poorly understood. The loss of normal cell cycle controls, particularly checkpoint controls, are a common feature of cancer.

Tight association of autophagy and cell cycle in leukemia cells

open access: yesCellular & Molecular Biology Letters, 2022
Background Autophagy plays an essential role in maintaining cellular homeostasis and in the response to cellular stress. Autophagy is also involved in cell cycle progression, yet the relationship between these processes is not clearly defined. Results In

Nuclear translocation of Cyclin B1 marks the restriction point for terminal cell cycle exit in G2 phase

open access: yesCell Cycle, 2014
Upon DNA damage, cell cycle progression is temporally blocked to avoid propagation of mutations. While transformed cells largely maintain the competence to recover from a cell cycle arrest, untransformed cells past the G1/S transition lose mitotic ...

Effect of hydroxyurea on mitotic activity 3H-thymidine and 3H-phenylalanine incorporation in the antheridial filament cells of Chara vulgaris

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2015
Hydroxyurea inhibits mitotic activity in cells of the antheridial filaments of Chara vulgaris by blocking phase S and phase G2. Blocking of cells in phase G2 also occurs in the case of the root meristem cells of Helianthus annuus and Vicia faba var ...

H, G1, G2 photometric phase function extended to low-accuracy data [PDF]

open access: yesPlanetary and Space Science, 2016
Abstract We introduce a constrained nonlinear least-squares algorithm to be used in estimating the parameters in the H, G1, G2 phase function. As the algorithm works directly in the magnitude space, it will surpass the possible bias problem that may be present in the existing H , G 1 , G 2 fit procedure when applied to low ...
