Constituent Properties of Licorices Derived from Glycyrrhiza uralensis, G. glabra, or G. inflata Identified by Genetic Information

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2007
Constituent properties of licorices derived from Glycyrrhiza uralensis, G. glabra, and G. inflata are revealed by comparing 117 of licorice identified using four genetic markers; internal tracscribed spacer (ITS) on nuclear ribosomal DNA, rbcL gene, matK gene, and trnH-trnK1 intergenic region on chloroplast DNA.

Genetic Differentiation and Phylogenetic Relationships of Glycyrrhiza glabra L., G. uralensis Fisch., and G. korshinskyi Grig. Inferred from Chloroplast DNA Variation

Russian Journal of Genetics, 2020
Three licorice species, Glycyrrhiza glabra L., G. uralensis Fisch., and G. korshinskyi Grig., from the main part of the range in North Eurasia were examined for chloroplast DNA variation using intergenic spacers 16S–trnA, trnS–trnG, atpH–atpI, and trnH–psbA.

Compositional Analysis of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, G. inflata, and G. glabra after Honey Processing, and the Cardioprotective Effects in Zebrafish Embryos

Planta Medica
AbstractThe “Shang Han Lun” indicates that honey-processed licorice protects the heart better than raw licorice. Ten major constituents in honey-processed licorice samples were quantified. Protective effects of honey-processed licorices against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity were assessed in zebrafish larvae.

Chemical quality evaluation and characteristics of interspecific hybrid (G. uralensis × G. glabra) C-18 strain as a new Licorice cultivar

Journal of Natural Medicines
The development of new cultivars is essential for establishing a method of producing licorice in Japan. A suitable new cultivar for domestic licorice production, known as the interspecific hybrid strain C-18, was developed by crossbreeding Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch.

A metabolic investigation of anticancer effect of G. glabra root extract on nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line, C666-1

Molecular Biology Reports, 2019
Although a majority of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) are undifferentiated and strongly radiosensitive, many NPC patients still have troubles in recurrence. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is considered as potential therapeutic drugs in NPC. However, the effect of Glycyrrhiza glabra on NPC is limited.

Iridoid Glycosides from Eremostachys glabra

Journal of Natural Products, 2004
Reversed-phase preparative HPLC of a methanol extract of the rhizomes of Eremostachys glabra yielded three new iridoid glycosides, namely, 6,9-epi-8-O-acetylshanziside methyl ester, 5,9-epi-penstemoside, and 5,9-epi-7,8-didehydropenstemoside. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data interpretation. The free-radical scavenging

Accelerating healing of infected wounds with G. glabra extract and curcumin Co-loaded electrospun nanofibrous dressing

Journal of Biomaterials Applications
This study aimed to construct a nanofibrous wound dressing composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and chitosan (CS) containing curcumin and Glycyrrhiza glabra root extract to inhibit infection and accelerate wound healing. Loading 10 wt% of G. glabra extract-curcumin (50:50) by electrospinng technique resulted in the formation of nanofibers (NFs) with ...

Hepatoprotective Sesquiterpene Glycosides from Sarcandra glabra

Journal of Natural Products, 2006
Six new sesquiterpene glycosides, compounds 1-6, with eudesmanolide, elemanolide, lindenane, and germacranolide sesquiterpene aglycons, along with one known compound, chloranoside A (7), have been isolated from the whole plant of Sarcandra glabra. The structures of 1-6 were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods including (1)H-(1)H COSY, HMQC,
