Walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus Pallas, 1814 found north of Spitsbergen indicates a Pacific-Atlantic connection in the species

open access: diamondFauna Norvegica, 2020
A small (36.5 cm) female walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus Pallas, 1814 was caught north of Spitsbergen in 2011. The specimen had a high number of pyloric caeca (n=109), indicating a Pacific origin.

Uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) survey of walleye pollock, Gadus chalcogrammus, in response to the cancellation of ship-based surveys [PDF]

open access: hybridICES Journal of Marine Science, 2021
In 2020, the developing COVID-19 pandemic disrupted fisheries surveys to an unprecedented extent. Many surveys were cancelled, including those for walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) in the eastern Bering Sea (EBS), the largest fishery in the United ...

Invader's portrait: Biological characteristics of walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus in the western Chukchi Sea

open access: yesDeep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography, 2022
Presented here are data on the size composition and age structure, the sex ratio, the state of maturity of the gonads, and the composition of the diet and feeding habits of walleye pollock in the western Chukchi Sea, based on 2003-2020 bottom and mid-water trawl surveys conducted onboard Russian research vessels. During all years of research, mid-water

Shifting-balance stock structure in North Pacific walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) [PDF]

open access: bronzeICES Journal of Marine Science, 2010
AbstractGrant, W. S., Spies, I., and Canino, M. F. 2010. Shifting-balance stock structure in North Pacific walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus). – ICES Journal of Marine Science, 67: 1687–1696. High levels of gene flow are expected to produce genetic homogeneity among open-ocean populations of walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) because of few ...

Catch Efficiency and Biomass Estimates of Walleye Pollock ( Gadus chalcogrammus ) in Relation to Lagrangian Indicators and Surface Temperature of Water in the Okhotsk Sea [PDF]

open access: bronzeFisheries Oceanography
A generalized additive model (GAM), incorporating sea surface temperature (SST) as a predictor of catch per unit effort (CPUE; tons per hour) from commercial fishing, has been used for the assessment of the major stock of walleye pollock in the ...

Interannual and Spatial Variability in Maturity of Walleye Pollock Gadus chalcogrammus and Implications for Spawning Stock Biomass Estimates in the Gulf of Alaska. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Catch quotas for walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus, the dominant species in the groundfish fishery off Alaska, are set by applying harvest control rules to annual estimates of spawning stock biomass (SSB) from age-structured stock assessments.

Effects of dietary lipid level on growth performance, feed utilization, fatty composition and antioxidant parameters of juvenile walleye pollock, Gadus chalcogrammus

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2021
We evaluated effects of dietary lipid level on growth performance, feed utilization, fatty acid composition, plasma chemistry, and antioxidant responses in juvenile walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus). Two-hundred forty juvenile pollock averaging 4.4 g

Variability of hydrological conditions at spawning sites of East Kamchatka walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) в 2012–2022

open access: yesThe researches of the aquatic biological resources of Kamchatka and the North-West Part of the Pacific Ocean, 2023
Analysis of inter-annual variability of temperature and dynamic conditions at sites of mass spawning of East Kamchatka walleye pollock is made based on the data obtained in the course of spring ichthyoplankton surveys for the period from 2012 to 2022 and

The Potential Sex Determination Genes, Sox9a and Cyp19a, in Walleye Pollock (Gadus Chalcogrammus) Are Influenced by Water Temperature [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
Our aim was to study the relationship between the sex-determining genes, sox9a and cyp19a, and water temperature in Gadus chalcogrammus. We assessed the sex ratio based on the expression levels of sox9a and cyp19a at different water temperatures (5, 8 ...
