Extraction, purification and characterization of galactomannans from non-traditional sources [PDF]
This work presents a methodology for the extraction of galactomannans from seeds of four different species of Leguminosae (Adenanthera pavonina, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Gleditsia triacanthos and Sophora japonica) to be used e.g.

Structural and thermal characterization of galactomannans from genus Gleditsia seeds as potential food gum substitutes [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Seed galactomannans are preferred hydrocolloids since they are comparatively cheap, non-toxic, eco-friendly and non-polluting during production and application. Galactomannans from seeds of three species of Gleditsia, namely G.

Characterization of galactomannans extracted from seeds of Gleditsia triacanthos and Sophora japonica through shear and extensional rheology: Comparison with guar gum and locust bean gum [PDF]
The rheological behaviour, under steady and dynamic shear and extensional conditions, of two nonconventional galactomannans isolated from Gleditsia triacanthos and Sophora japonica is determined and compared to those of locust bean gum and guar gum ...

Seed Galactomannans: An Overview
Chemistry & Biodiversity, 2005AbstractSeed galactomannans are vegetable, heterogeneous polysaccharides widely distributed in nature. Generally, they possess (1→4)‐linked D‐mannopyranose (Man) main chains to which are attached (1→6)‐linked D‐galactopyranosyl (Gal) units. The Man/Gal ratios differ from gum to gum, resulting in a change in structure, which, in turn, determines the ...

Synthesis of galactomannan sulfates
Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology, 2006The experimental conditions for the sulfation of legume galactomannans were found, which allow for the obtainment of polysaccharides with a high degree of substitution. Sulfate esters of four galactomannans of different composition (galactose content, 16.4-47.5%) were synthesized using the SO3-pyridine complex in dimethylformamide as a sulfating agent.
