Amides of glucuronic, galacturonic, and mannuronic acids

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards, 1948
Heretofore the amides of glucuronic, galacturonic, and mannuronic acid were not known, and methods were not available for their preparation. It has now been found possible to obtain the amides of uronic acids from the corresponding 1-amino-uronamides by selective hydrolysis of the glycosylamino group.

Importance of Galacturonic Acid in Controlling the Retting of Flax [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1967
The empirical test was compared with the determination of p H, total acidity, and galacturonic acid (GA) as methods for establishing the termination time of the retting process in flax. The GA dosage was the best method for determining the end point of this process by distinctly dividing the ...

Basidiomycotic Yeast Cryptococcus diffluens Converts l-Galactonic Acid to the Compound on the Similar Metabolic Pathway in Ascomycetes

open access: yesFermentation, 2019
(1) Background: It has been shown that d-galacturonic acid is converted to l-galactonic acid by the basidiomycotic yeast, Cryptococcus diffluens. However, two pathways are hypothesized for the l-galactonic acid conversion process in C. diffluens. One is

Isolation, characterisation and complement fixation activity of acidic polysaccharides from Argemone mexicana used as antimalarials in Mali

open access: yesPharmaceutical Biology, 2022
Context Global studies on Argemone mexicana L. (Papaveraceae) traditionally used against malaria in Mali are limited to its low-mass compounds activities, and little information on its bioactive polysaccharides is available. Objective This study ...

Scaling up and scaling down the production of galactaric acid from pectin using Trichoderma reesei

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2017
Background Bioconversion of d-galacturonic acid to galactaric (mucic) acid has previously been carried out in small scale (50–1000 mL) cultures, which produce tens of grams of galactaric acid.

Synthesis of Glycosides of Glucuronic, Galacturonic and Mannuronic Acids: An Overview

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
Uronic acids are carbohydrates present in relevant biologically active compounds. Most of the latter are glycosides or oligosaccharides linked by their anomeric carbon, so their synthesis requires glycoside-bond formation. The activation of this anomeric

Autotoxin Rg1 Induces Degradation of Root Cell Walls and Aggravates Root Rot by Modifying the Rhizospheric Microbiome

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2021
Management of crop root rot disease is one of the key factors in ensuring sustainable development in agricultural production. The accumulation of autotoxins and pathogens in soil has been reported as a primary driver of root rot diseases; however, less ...

Exploring the effect of utilising organic acid solutions in ultrasound-assisted extraction of pectin from apple pomace, and its potential for biomedical purposes

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Biomass resulting from food production represents valuable material to recover different biomolecules. In our study, we used apple pomace to obtain pectin, which is traditionally extracted using mineral acids.

Kinetic, Thermodynamic, Physicochemical, and Economical Characterization of Pectin from Mangifera indica L. cv. Haden Residues

open access: yesFoods, 2021
The effect of temperature (60, 70, 80, and 90 °C) and time (30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 min) on citric acid extraction of Haden mango (Mangifera indica L. cv. Haden) peel pectin was evaluated in the present study.

Comparing the Chemical Characteristics of Pectin Isolated from Various Indonesian Fruit Peels

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2021
The Indonesian pectin manufacturing industry is underdeveloped, and pectin is imported to meet its increasing demand; we attempted to isolate pectins from various fruit peels, such as orange peel (OP), papaya peel (PP), mango peel (MP), watermelon peel ...
