Mass–Metallicity Relationship of SDSS Star-forming Galaxies: Population Synthesis Analysis and Effects of Star Burst Length, Extinction Law, Initial Mass Function, and Star Formation Rate

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We investigate the mass–metallicity relationship of star-forming galaxies by analyzing the absorption line spectra of ∼200,000 galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

Structure and stellar content of dwarf galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2002
We present B and R band surface photometry of 25 Southern eld dwarf galaxies within a distance of 10 Mpc. For each galaxy we give the essential model-free photometric parameters and, by tting exponentials to the surface brightness proles, the central extrapolated surface brightness and the exponential scale length, in both colour bands.

Retracted: Can the chemical industry solve the climate change? On the role of human energy production, renewable energies, and the potential of chemistry as a solution provider

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView., 2023
Let us consider an alternative perspective on climate change: The sum of solar radiation and heat generated by human activity result in a net energy input of 1.96 times that of the Sun on the Earth's surface. The expanding global population is expected to exacerbate this issue. Potential solutions are proposed, including replacement and heat recycling.

A Nearby Isolated Dwarf: Star Formation and Structure of ESO 006–001

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Observations with the Hubble Space Telescope unexpectedly revealed that the dwarf galaxy ESO 006–001 is a near neighbor to the Local Group at a distance of 2.70 ± 0.11 Mpc.

Targeted decrease of portal hepatic pressure gradient improves ascites control after TIPS

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The river diagram demonstrates that after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt insertion (TIPS) the majority of patients without ascites and 50% of the patients with ascites detectable at ultrasound, show the best response in the long term follow‐up.

Spectroscopic characterization of the stellar content of ultra-diffuse galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
Understanding the peculiar properties of Ultra Diffuse Galaxies (UDGs) via spectroscopic analysis is a challenging task requiring very deep observations and exquisite data reduction. In this work we perform one of the most complete characterisations of the stellar component of UDGs to date using deep optical spectroscopic data from OSIRIS at GTC.
