Spectroscopic characterization of the stellar content of ultra-diffuse galaxies [PDF]
Understanding the peculiar properties of Ultra Diffuse Galaxies (UDGs) via spectroscopic analysis is a challenging task requiring very deep observations and exquisite data reduction. In this work we perform one of the most complete characterisations of the stellar component of UDGs to date using deep optical spectroscopic data from OSIRIS at GTC.

Ionized Gas and Stellar Content in a Sample of HII Galaxies [PDF]
AbstractWe present the first results of an extensive study of the stellar content and the ionized gas structure for a sample of BCGs. Deep broad (BVRI Johnson) and narrow (Hα) CCD images have been obtained for about 25 galaxies. For a subset of objects, selected on the basis of their apparent structure, long-slit spectroscopy has also been obtained in ...

The Stellar Content of the Local Group Dwarf Galaxy Phoenix
We present new deep $VI$ ground-based photometry of the Local Group dwarf galaxy Phoenix. Our results confirm that this galaxy is mainly dominated by red stars, with some blue plume stars indicating recent (100 Myr old) star formation in the central part of the galaxy.

Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA): the wavelength-dependent sizes and profiles of galaxies revealed by MegaMorph [PDF]
We investigate the relationship between colour and structure within galaxies using a large, volume-limited sample of bright, low-redshift galaxies with optical-near-infrared imaging from the Galaxy AndMass Assembly survey. We fit single-component ...

From Carbon to Cobalt: Chemical Compositions and Ages of z ∼ 0.7 Quiescent Galaxies
We present elemental abundance patterns (C, N, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Co, and Ni) for a population of 135 massive quiescent galaxies at z ∼ 0.7 with ultra-deep rest-frame optical spectroscopy drawn from the LEGA-C survey.

Phenomenological distribution of dark matter halos of galaxy comprising of stellar streams [PDF]
Using the potential associated with NFW mass profile (Navarro et al. in Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 402:21, 2010) enclosed at scale radius rₛ, we calculate the partition function of the clustering of dark halos comprising of stellar streams, which are the ...

Revisiting the Milky Way stellar long bar and the 3 kpc arm★
Context. One of the most difficult and unexplored regions of the Milky Way is the highly extincted in-plane central region within the Galactic coordinates 10◦ ≲ |ℓ| ≲ 30◦, |b| ≲ 3◦, where we have the long-bar and 3 kpc arm with intermediate-age stellar ...

Chemical and kinematical evolution in nearby dwarf spheroidal galaxies [PDF]
Dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxies are the least massive and luminous objects known to exist. These galaxies are often considered as the fossil building blocks of massive systems predicted by some cosmological models.
