TGFβ enhances platelet–breast‐cancer‐cell interaction and promotes platelet aggregation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
TGFβ stimulation promotes EMT in MCF7 cells, increasing their ability to bind, activate, and aggregate PLT. This effect involves the upregulation of adhesion molecules Integrin‐αv and Galectin‐3. Inhibiting Integrin‐αv or Galectin‐3, through Cilengitide and GB1103, reduces PLT adhesion to MCF7 and PLT aggregation, suggesting a mechanism linking TGFβ ...

Transglutaminase‐mediated cytokeratin modifications implicated in bile‐acid‐induced hepatocyte death

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cholestasis and bile‐acid exposure enhance expression and activity of protein crosslinking enzymes TG1 and TG2 in hepatocytes. Substrate proteins were identified by mass spectrometry using biotin‐labeled peptides (pepK5/pepT26) or amine donor (biotinylated pentylamine; BPA). Crosslinking‐induced aggregation and fragmentation of keratin 18 and 8 (K18/K8)

Galectin 7 leads to a relative reduction in CD4+ T cells, mediated by PD-1

open access: yesScientific Reports
The role of glycan-binding proteins as an activator of immune regulatory receptors has gained attention recently. We report that galectin 7 reduced CD4+ T cell percentage in both in vitro culture and mouse tumor models.

Structural and functional characterization of the newly identified Photorhabdus laumondii tumor necrosis factor‐like lectin

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
We characterize the PLTL lectin from Photorhabdus laumondii, which adopts a unique TNF‐like fold. Binding assays reveal a preference for branched histo‐blood group oligosaccharides. Protein crystallography uncovers a novel hexameric assembly and identifies key residues involved in carbohydrate recognition.

A guide to the types, structures, and multifaceted functions of matrix metalloproteinases in cancer

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) orchestrate cancer progression and metastasis through proteolytic and non‐proteolytic actions. By remodeling the tumor microenvironment, enhancing growth factor availability, and modulating cell behavior, MMPs promote proliferation, migration or invasion, and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition. Alongside extracellular

Linderalactone mitigates diabetic renal injury by inhibiting macrophage inflammation via the Dectin1/Syk/CARD9/IRF5/NF‐κB pathway

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Inflammation plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Linderalactone (LNL), as a natural sesquiterpene lactone, has been discovered to have anti‐inflammatory activation. However, the effects of linderalactone on diabetes‐associated renal damage remain unclear.

Hair follicle stem cell fate supports distinct clinical endotypes in hidradenitis suppurativa

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Hair follicles (HFs) were extracted from skin biopsies. From these, original sequencing data were obtained and integrated with two independent studies to build a HF single‐cell transcriptomic atlas. It enabled delineating the fate of HF stem cells.

Influence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea on Maternal and Perinatal Outcomes in Patients With Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) increases during pregnancy and is associated with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), although its clinical impact on birth outcomes remains unclear. We aimed to assess the effect of several OSA criteria and intermittent hypoxia in the third trimester on perinatal outcomes in women with GDM.

Reduced Dietary Protein Induces Changes in the Dental Proteome

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, Volume 346, Issue 2, Page 107-127, March 2026.
Low dietary protein (10%) from normal (20%) does change protein expression in tooth proteome and alter developmental pathways. Among the significant protein expressions changes are actin‐based myosins, tooth, and bone development proteins. Perplexingly tooth size is not altered, suggesting more nuanced phenotypic response to low dietary protein in ...

Secretory autophagy and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in cadaveric AMD samples: Novel pathways in disease progression

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 2, Page 239-251, March 2026.
Abstract Purpose To examine the presence of secretory autophagy and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) in the macular retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) of human cadaver eyes with different forms of age‐related macular degeneration (AMD). Methods Human cadaver macula samples representing dry and wet AMD, as well as age‐matched controls, were ...
