Legionella pneumophila replicates in macrophages in a host-derived phagosome, termed the Legionella-containing vacuole (LCV). While the translocation of type IV secretion (T4S) effectors into the macrophage cytosol is well established, the location of ...

Fangchinoline is identified as a small‐molecule DNGR‐1 modulator that enhances dendritic‐cell cross‐presentation of tumor antigens. By engaging DNGR‐1 and activating Syk–Nox2 signaling, it promotes phagosomal ROS, antigen escape, MHC‐I presentation, and CD8+ T‐cell priming, thereby strengthening antitumor immunity and sensitizing tumors to PD‐1 ...

Shiga Toxin—A Model for Glycolipid-Dependent and Lectin-Driven Endocytosis
The cellular entry of the bacterial Shiga toxin and the related verotoxins has been scrutinized in quite some detail. This is due to their importance as a threat to human health.

Roles of galectins in infection [PDF]
Galectins, which were first characterized in the mid-1970s, were assigned a role in the recognition of endogenous ('self') carbohydrate ligands in embryogenesis, development and immune regulation. Recently, however, galectins have been shown to bind glycans on the surface of potentially pathogenic microorganisms, and function as recognition and ...

We developed an assay to distinguish cellular binding from internalization. Compatible with microscopy and high‐throughput screening, the method identifies ligand‐mediated uptake. Applying top candidates to a protein‐based DNA carrier enhanced transfection efficiency, providing a rational strategy to improve non‐viral gene delivery systems.
