Introduction: Carcinoma of the gallbladder is extremely rare, papillary adenocarcinoma comprises 90% of these cases. Although neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) comprise 0.5% of the cases of gallbladder cancer, the incidence is rising.

Epidemiology of gallbladder cancer

According to GLOBOCAN 2018 data, gallbladder cancer (GBC) accounts for 1.2% of all global cancer diagnoses, but 1.7% of all cancer deaths. Only 1 in 5 GBC cases in the United States is diagnosed at an early stage, and median survival for advanced stage cancer is no more than about a year.

Forsythoside E Alleviates Liver Injury by Targeting PKM2 Tetramerization to Promote Macrophage M2 Polarization

Advanced Science, EarlyView.
Here, the study shows for the first time that Forsythoside E (FE) can promote PKM2 tetramerization by binding to its K311 site. Furthermore, it induces metabolic reprogramming of macrophages and inhibits NLRP3 expression. Finally, it can alleviate sepsis‐induced liver injury by promoting M2 anti‐inflammatory polarization.
