Chromosomal structural analysis in carcinoma of the gallbladder

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2012
Background The etiopathogenesis of gallbladder cancer is still unknown. Both environmental and patient factors have been incriminated in its cause. That it is found in pockets of epidemiological distribution raises an issue of genetic changes associated ...

Gallbladder cancer: epidemiology and genetic risk associations.

open access: yesChinese Clinical Oncology, 2019
Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is a form of hepatobiliary malignancy that develops from the mucosal lining of the gallbladder. The early development of gallbladder cancer is usually asymptomatic and gallbladder cancer has a high propensity to metastatic ...

An In Situ Curing, Shear‐Responsive Biomaterial Designed for Durable Embolization of Microvasculature

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeoCast is a next‐generation, solvent‐free, non‐adhesive liquid embolic designed for indications where deep occlusion is desired (e.g., tumors and chronic subdural hematoma). This novel agent offers ideal embolic properties: injectability, controllability, excellent visibility, and biocompatibility.

A Convoy of Magnetic Millirobots Transports Endoscopic Instruments for Minimally‐Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The first electrocautery procedure performed by a team of millirobots (TrainBots) is presented. Enhanced with optimized feet, millirobots form a convoy to facilitate the collaborative transportation of wires and catheters through biological lumens, e.g. bile ducts. It opens up the possibility of using a team of mini‐robots in future endoscopic surgery.

Complex dynamics of the biological rhythms: gallbladder and heart cases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A theoretical analysis of the mechanisms underlying the dynamics of gallbladder and heart pulsation could clarify the question regarding the classification as chaotic of the associated behaviour, eventually related to a normal and healthy beat; this analysis is particularly relevant in view of the control of dynamics bifurcations arising in situations ...

Sensor technologies in cancer research for new directions in diagnosis and treatment: and exploratory analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The goal of this study is an exploratory analysis concerning main sensor technologies applied in cancer research to detect new directions in diagnosis and treatments. The study focused on types of cancer having a high incidence and mortality worldwide: breast, lung, colorectal and prostate.

Epidemiology of gallbladder cancer in India.

open access: yesChinese Clinical Oncology, 2019
India is a high incidence area for gallbladder cancer (GBC) and contributes to about 10% of the global GBC burden. Within India, the incidence is high in North, North-East, Central and Eastern India, and less common in South and West India. The incidence

Targeting PTBP3‐Mediated Alternative Splicing of COX11 Induces Cuproptosis for Inhibiting Gastric Cancer Peritoneal Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The splicing factor PTBP3 promotes COX11 exon skipping, allowing gastric cancer organoids to evade cuproptosis. Antisense oligonucleotide drugs targeting PTBP3‐mediated COX11 alternative splicing, in combination with copper ionophores, promote cuproptosis in organoids, thereby providing a therapeutic approach for gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis ...

Gallbladder cancer: review of a rare orphan gastrointestinal cancer with a focus on populations of New Mexico

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2018
Gallbladder cancer is a rare malignancy of the biliary tract with a poor prognosis, frequently presenting at an advanced stage. While rare in the United States overall, gallbladder cancer has an elevated incidence in geographically distinct locations of ...

A Multiple-Instance Learning Approach for the Assessment of Gallbladder Vascularity from Laparoscopic Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
An important task at the onset of a laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) operation is the inspection of gallbladder (GB) to evaluate the thickness of its wall, presence of inflammation and extent of fat. Difficulty in visualization of the GB wall vessels may be due to the previous factors, potentially as a result of chronic inflammation or other diseases.
