Consensus Conference on Gallbladder Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesHPB, 2015
Establishing consensus on the diagnosis, treatment and management of biliary tract malignancies is a difficult task. Compared with those of other gastrointestinal cancers, the incidences of biliary tract malignancies and, in particular, gallbladder cancer (GBC) are low.

Genetically Engineered IL12/CSF1R‐Macrophage Membrane‐Liposome Hybrid Nanovesicles for NIR‐II Fluorescence Imaging‐Guided and Membrane‐Targeted Mild Photothermal‐Immunotherapy of Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A theranostic nanoplatform is formulated with NIR‐II emissive lipophilic cyanine dye IRC18 to intercalate into genetically engineered IL12/CSF1R‐macrophage membrane‐liposome hybrid nanovesicles, which assists to achieve blood–brain barrier crossing, glioblastoma targeting, NIR‐II fluorescence imaging, image‐guided membrane‐targeted mild photothermal ...

Doubly robust machine learning for an instrumental variable study of surgical care for cholecystitis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Comparative effectiveness research frequently employs the instrumental variable design since randomized trials can be infeasible for many reasons. In this study, we investigate and compare treatments for emergency cholecystitis -- inflammation of the gallbladder.

Classification of Multiple Diseases on Body CT Scans using Weakly Supervised Deep Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Purpose: To design multi-disease classifiers for body CT scans for three different organ systems using automatically extracted labels from radiology text reports.Materials & Methods: This retrospective study included a total of 12,092 patients (mean age 57 +- 18; 6,172 women) for model development and testing (from 2012-2017).

Circular RNA FOXP1 promotes tumor progression and Warburg effect in gallbladder cancer by regulating PKLR expression

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2019
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have recently been identified as potential functional modulators of the cellular physiology processes. The study aims to uncover the potential clinical value and driving molecular mechanisms of circRNAs in gallbladder cancer (GBC)

Generation of a High‐Precision Whole Liver Panorama and Cross‐Scale 3D Pathological Analysis for Hepatic Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using the MOSTtechnology and whole‐liver Nissl staining method, a multi‐structural 3D pathological panorama of liver fibrosis is obtained. The damaged sinusoids, steatotic hepatocytes, and collagen deposition are all concentrated in pericentral areas.

Sarcopenia ‘made simple’ and outcomes from emergency laparotomy

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, Volume 92, Issue 12, Page 3198-3203, December 2022., 2022
CT‐assessed ratio of L3 vertebral body cross‐sectional area to total psoas muscle cross‐sectional area (L3:PM) is a simple yet significant predictor of 30‐, 90‐ and 365‐day mortality in emergency laparotomy patients. This study is the first to describe the association in an Australian population.

Isolated IgG4-related cholecystitis with localized gallbladder wall thickening mimicking gallbladder cancer: a case report and literature review

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2022
Background IgG4-related cholecystitis, which is a manifestation of IgG4-related disease in the gallbladder, is associated with autoimmune pancreatitis or IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis in most cases; isolated gallbladder lesions without systemic ...

Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Gallbladder: Where Survival Is a Rare Entity – Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastroenterology, 2023
Introduction: Carcinoma of the gallbladder is extremely rare, papillary adenocarcinoma comprises 90% of these cases. Although neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) comprise 0.5% of the cases of gallbladder cancer, the incidence is rising.
