DETERMINATION OF GAMMA - AMINOBUTYRIC ACID BY HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 1998
Gamma-aminobutyric acid is the main inhibitory amino acid neurotransmitter in several areas of the brain. Measurement of gamma-aminobutyric acid in the brain will help elucidate its metabolic rote and diagnostic value.

Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic effects of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal (ashwagandha) and carbamazepine combination in rats [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy & Pharmacognosy Research
Context: Withania somnifera, also known as ashwagandha, has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, and anti-diabetic properties and reduces stress. Carbamazepine is one of the most used antiepileptic medications for treating epilepsy. Aims:

Temperature dependence of the microwave dielectric properties of $$\gamma$$ γ -aminobutyric acid

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The GABA molecule is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system. Through binding to post-synaptic neurons, GABA reduces the neuronal excitability by hyperpolarization.

The potential role of pancreatic γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in diabetes mellitus: A critical reappraisal

open access: yesInternational Journal of Preventive Medicine, 2021
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an endocrine disorder characterized by hyperglycemia, polyuria, polydipsia, and glucosuria. γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS) of humans and other mammals.

Beyond the Fixed Charge: A New On‐Tissue Derivatisation Strategy Employing Photoionisable Chromophores for Mass Spectrometry Imaging of Amino‐Containing Metabolites

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We introduce a novel chemical derivatisation strategy for the UV‐activated detection of elusive metabolites. Incorporation of a tocopherol‐active chromophore allows for the detection of tagged analytes as photoionised radical cations, selectively induced by a 266 nm laser.

Atypical Condensation Domains Guide Discovery and Illuminate Biosynthesis of Myxoglucamides Featuring Vinyl‐Substituted, α‐Oxidized γ‐Amino Acids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Genome mining of atypical condensation (C) domains leads to the discovery of myxoglucamides, glycolipopeptides featuring an unprecedented vinyl‐substituted, α‐oxidized γ‐amino acid. Biosynthetic studies reveal a discrete C‐domain‐like O‐acyltransferase, a β‐hydroxylation‐dependent chain‐extension checkpoint, and an unusual pathway for γ‐amino acid ...

Restoration of gamma-aminobutyric acid homeostasis: A novel approach to alleviating central nervous system injury–associated immunodepression syndrome

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
Injuries to the central nervous system can disrupt body functions and often cause excessive sympathetic activity, leading to immune suppression known as central nervous system injury–associated immunodepression syndrome.

Chronic myocardial infarction changed the excitatory–inhibitory synaptic balance in the medial prefrontal cortex of rat

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2018
The medial prefrontal cortex is a key area for the regulation of pain and emotion. However, the functional involvement of the medial prefrontal cortex for visceral nociception, at the neuronal or synaptic level, is obscure yet.

Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid Signaling in Brown Adipose Tissue Promotes Systemic Metabolic Derangement in Obesity

open access: yesCell Reports, 2018
Summary: Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a metabolically active organ that contributes to the maintenance of systemic metabolism. The sympathetic nervous system plays important roles in the homeostasis of BAT and promotes its browning and activation ...
