Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Study of an argon dielectric barrier discharge reactor with atmospheric pressure for material treatment

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical and Applied Physics, 2018
In this study, effects of the variation in the dielectric barrier discharge’s (DBD) gap distance and the nature of dielectric layers which cover both of the reactor electrodes on the electron density, mass fraction of excited argon atoms across the ...

The effect of sp2 fraction and bonding disorder on micro-mechanical and electronic properties of a-C:H films

open access: yes, 2007
There is a notion that in carbonaceous materials the sp3 hybridised fraction determines the mechanical properties, while the sp2 fraction controls the electro-optical properties.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Energy gaps in fractional quantum hall states

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2008
Energy values versus filling factors v are examined for fractional quantum Hall states (FQHS). First, the classical Coulomb energy of nearest electron pairs in FQHS is shown to be linearly dependent upon 1/v. The residual Coulomb interaction produces quantum transitions. Examination of second order transitions indicates a discrepancy between the second

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
