SF6 concentration sensor for gas-insulated electrical switchgear

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2014
Abstract The use of SF 6 -N 2 gas mixtures in gas insulated electrical switchgear (GIS) is becoming more wide-spread. This is motivated by the reduction of environmental impact associated with SF 6 emission and the increasing number of GIS located in low temperature environments where pure SF 6 cannot be employed.

Gas-Insulated Switchgear and Interrupter

IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1986
The historical progress of gas-insulated equipment in Japan is reviewed and the trend of technologies is discussed in the present paper. Since gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and gas circuit breaker (GCB) have been widely applied to substation equipment, advanced technologies for high realiability and compactness of GIS are still required.

Real-time gas insulation state evaluation model of the gas insulated switchgear

2017 13th International Conference on Natural Computation, Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (ICNC-FSKD), 2017
Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) has been applied greatly in the ultra-high voltage (UHV) power grids because of its advantages of high reliability, compact structure, small footprint, low electromagnetic pollution and so on. Therefore, the real-time monitoring of its operation status is important for ensuring the reliable and safe operation of the power

Sustainable performance of Gas-Insulated Switchgear

2012 International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application, 2012
Modern Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) technology has been undergoing continual development since its introduction in the 1960's when the use of SF6 as arc extinguishing and isolating medium was first introduced, and whilst many may consider this technology as mature, there have been continuous development driven changes in GIS design, manufacture, test

Transient heating of gas insulated switchgears

IEEE PES T&D 2010, 2010
This paper investigates the thermal effects of short fault currents in switchgears. During short circuits, the current and temperature distribution over the cross section and even along the perimeter of the busbars and the enclosures can become non-uniform, exposing the separate contact elements of the contact systems to different temperatures.

Testing Methods for Gas-Insulated Switchgear

IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1986
This paper presents the outline and basic concepts of insulation tests which have been contributing to GIS's steady progress in Japan. Some examples of insulation tests during developing, production, and installation stages are described. Finally, the current trends of GIS's insulation tests are described.
