Capacitive sensor for the measurement of transients in gas-insulated switchgears
2009 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2009A capacitive sensor has been developed for the measurements of very fast transient over-voltages (VFTO) in GIS. Step response measurement was performed on the sensor. It is shown from the test that the settling time is less than 20 ns and the response time is less than 2ns, suitable to the IEC1321-1.

Gas insulated switchgear for medium voltage substations
IEE Colloquium on GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) at Transmission and Distribution Voltages, 1995High reliability and staff safety is the most important factor a modern medium voltage switchgear has to comply with. Together with the requirement for space-saving design, mainly in European countries, the development of switchgear models finally resulted in the most advantageous type of gas insulated switchgear.

On the management of metallic particle contamination in gas insulated switchgear
IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2017Electrical insulation performance of compressed gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is adversely affected by metallic particle contaminants with a loss of up to 90% of the gas dielectric strength. Such particles play a crucial role in determining the system insulation integrity. Coating of the inside surface of GIS enclosures with a dielectric material such

Development of 300/245kV, 80kA Gas Insulated Switchgear
2008 International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application, 2008This paper describes the results of the development and validation of the 300/245 kV, 80 kA GIS based on conventional 300/245 kV, 63 kA GIS and conventional free standing GCB, and describes the design approach of intake puffer type ES. The performance of this GIS satisfied all type tests and all special specification tests.

High voltage gas insulated switchgear: an overview
IEE Colloquium on GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) at Transmission and Distribution Voltages, 1995In 1967 the first gas insulated metal-enclosed switchgear went into service in the German 110 kV network. Today GIS technology is successfully used for voltages up to 800 kV. GIS is an attractive alternative to conventional air insulated substations (AIS) because of the increased availability, reliability and the reduced life cycle costs.

Verification of the seismic resistance of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS)
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1993A brief introduction into the background of seismic requirements is given. The test procedures are described, demonstrating the capability of gas insulated switchgear (GIS) to withstand seismic stresses up to highest ground accelerations of 0.75 g. The verification methods for checking the test object after test are described.

Discharge-Based Diagnostics in Polluted Gas-Insulated Switchgear
2018 Twentieth International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2018One of the most serious problems that cause the failure of the Gas insulated substations is the presence of contaminating particles inside its compartments as it adversely affects the withstand capability of the system. In this paper diagnosis of particles presence based on the detection of time-to-discharge is presented. This is based on the fact that

Development and Implementation of Intelligent System for Gas Insulated Switchgear
2009 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2009A set of online monitoring and control system for gas insulated switchgear (GIS) has been developed and implemented in this paper. Most main mechanical and electrical parameters of GIS can be monitored and phase controlled operation can be realized by this system. Therefore, the intelligentization of GIS can be achieved.

Dynamic analysis on the closing resistors of Gas Insulated Switchgear
Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2006GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) is used in electric power system to insure non conductivity, breaking capacity and operating reliability. In the present study, dynamic analysis on the closing resistors of the GIS has bees carried out by the commercial dynamic analysis code COSMOS MOTION and 3-D modeling program SOLID WORKS.

Gas and solid insulation in HVDC gas insulated switchgear
2017 IEEE Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (EI2), 2017With the development of high voltage directly current (DC) transmission technique, DC gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is attracting more and more attentions. DC GIS has the advantages of compact size, high reliability and interchangeability. Compared with alternating current (AC), the electric field distribution of the DC GIS insulation system depends ...
