Finite-difference time-domain simulation of partial discharges in a gas insulated switchgear

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2016
It is important to estimate the current magnitude and charge amount of a partial discharge (PD) in a gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). In this study, electromagnetic fields generated by a PD in an 84 kV-class three-phase GIS for testing have been measured ...

Accurate Harmonic Voltage Measurement Based on Series Resistive‐Capacitive Divider for Gas‐Insulated Switchgear

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
A series resistive‐capacitive divider for harmonic voltage measurement of gas‐insulated switchgear was studied. It can step down the voltage while amplifying the proportion of harmonics in the total sensed voltage, thereby increasing the significant figure for the measurement and enabling the accurate measurement of high‐order, low‐amplitude harmonics.

Detection of Transient Decomposition Products of CF3SO2F and C4F7N via OES Under Spark and Glow Discharges

open access: yesHigh Voltage, Volume 10, Issue 6, Page 1582-1592, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The optical emission spectra (OES) reflect the presence of excited states in the gaseous discharge, which are directly linked to the decomposition characteristics of insulating gases. In this study, a pin/rod–plate discharge reactor driven by either a high‐voltage direct current (DC) generator or a pulsed generator was developed to establish ...

Finite element analysis of reinforcement for gas insulated switchgear

open access: yesHighlights in Science, Engineering and Technology, 2023
Considering the burgeoning requirement for reinforcing gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear, a three-dimensional elastic-plastic finite element model was established to examine the stress distribution before and after reinforcement. The results showed that, under an internal pressure of 3.8 MPa, the maximum stress of the defective sample surpassed ...
