Techno-Economic Analysis of Gas Turbine Compressor Washing to Combat Fouling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Among the major deterioration problems a gas turbine encountered while in operation is compressor blade fouling. This is the accumulation and adhesion of dirt and sediment on the compressor blade which contributes between 70 to 85% of gas turbine ...

Optical fiber fabrication using novel gas-phase deposition technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We report a highly versatile chemical-in-crucible preform fabrication technique suitable for gas-phase deposition of doped optical fibers. Aluminosilicate and ytterbium-doped phosphosilicate fibers are presented demonstrating the technique and its ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Realization of visualization multivariable prediction method for gas content based on grey system theory

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2013
In view of problem of low reliability caused by single-factor gradient method for predicting gas content in coal mine, the paper proposed a method of visualization multivariable prediction for gas content based on grey system theory, and established ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

The clinical significance of gas-containing liver abscesses converting from total gas content to gas and fluid content: a case report*

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Practice, 2005
The first case of gas-containing liver abscesses converting from total gas content to gas and fluid content is reported, and the clinical significance of such a conversion is emphasised. A 58-year-old diabetic woman suffered from fever and chill due to totally gas-containing liver abscesses shown by computerised tomography (CT).

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Vertical and lateral variation of gas content associated with coal seams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Vertical and lateral gas content variation associated within a coal seam and its relation to porosity and geology was researched. Several seams of high sub-bituminous and bituminous coal volatile C from Amaga formation were selected. Channel samples were
