Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Prediction of jet engine parameters for control design using genetic programming

open access: yes, 2014
The simulation of a jet engine behavior is widely used in many different aspects of the engine development and maintenance. Achieving high quality jet engine control systems requires the iterative use of these simulations to virtually test the ...

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Multi-Objective Optimization of an Adaptive Cycle Fan Based on XAI-Driven Feature Selection

open access: yesAerospace
To address the high-dimensional design optimization of an adaptive cycle fan (ACF), this paper proposes a new multi-objective optimization (MOO) method based on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI)-driven feature selection.

The Effect of Intake Valve Timing on Spark-Ignition Engine Performances Fueled by Natural Gas at Low Power

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
To reduce the greenhouse effect, it is important to reduce not only carbon dioxide but also methane emissions. Methane gas can be not only a fossil fuel (natural gas) but also a renewable energy source when it is extracted from biomass.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Application of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition in Spatiotemporal Characterization and Reduced-Order Modeling of Rotor–Stator Interaction Flow Field

open access: yesAerospace
The periodic unsteady flow induced by rotor–stator interaction (RSI) is the primary cause of blade forced vibration and fatigue failure. Therefore, analyzing the excitation characteristics of RSI flow fields under multi-parameter conditions is essential ...

A numerical investigation into the effect of engine bleed on performance of a single-spool turbojet engine. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A real time simulation model has been developed to investigate the effect of variable engine bleed on steady state and transient performance of a single-spool turbojet engine.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.
