Tough and Skin‐Free Porous Polyelectrolyte Complex Hydrogels via Salt‐Induced Aqueous Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling counterion exchange rate during aqueous phase separation enables the formation of skin‐free, homogeneously porous polyelectrolyte complex hydrogels by suppressing kinetically trapped skin layers and macrovoids. The resulting hydrogel networks exhibit exceptional toughness (∼15 MJ·m−3) and enable 3D (bio)printing and post‐functionalization ...

Gas hold‐up in stirred tank reactors

Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2002
AbstractBased on a study of the gas hold‐up data for stirred tank reactor generated in the present work and the data available in the literature for large stirred tank reactors (T = 0.57 m to 2.7 m) equipped with disc turbines and pitched blade downflow turbines a correlation is presented which reliably predicts gas hold‐up data over wide range of ...

Gas Hold-up in Aerated Slugging Columns

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2000
Gas hold-up is one of the most important parameters characterizing the hydrodynamics of bubble columns. A study is presented about the gas hold-up in gas-liquid slugging columns. Expansion of liquid columns is measured for a wide range of superficial velocities of bubbling gas, and the data are compared with available theory.
