Wirelessly Powered Soft Magnetic Robot with Microneedle for Electrical Stimulation and Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A wirelessly powered soft magnetic robot integrates microneedles to enable dual functions: electrical stimulation (86.7% efficiency at 6 cm, tunable 0–20 V voltage, 0.4–50 ms pulses) and drug delivery. It switches surfaces via magnetic fields for gastrointestinal tract locomotion and treatment, with in vitro validation in fresh pig gut showing ...

Antiulcer Effect of Genus Symphytum L. and Portulaca oleracea L. as Investigated on Experimental Animals

open access: yesJournal of Nutrition and Metabolism
Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) occurs when open sores, or ulcers, form in the stomach or first part of the small intestine caused by bacterial infection (H. pylori) and/or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use.

White opaque substance visualized by magnifying narrow-band imaging is associated with intragastric acid conditions

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2018
Background and study aims The presence of white opaque substance (WOS) is an endoscopic marker of intestinal metaplasia. Considering that the nature of WOS is absorbed lipid droplets, lipase plays an important role in the lipid absorption process and is ...

Radium Speciation in Simulated Digestive Biofluids: Insights from Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry and Thermodynamic Modeling

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) combined with thermodynamic modeling provides the first direct characterization of radium speciation in synthetic gastrointestinal biofluids. Free Ra2+ ions predominate with minimal protein binding and negligible EDTA complexation. Crown ethers enable effective Ra complexation.

The effect of multiprobiotic “Apibact®” on interferon production and 2',5'-oligoadenylate synthetase activity in rat thymus lymphocytes under hypoacidity evoked by omeprazole injection

open access: yesБіологічні студії, 2013
The interferon (IFN) production by rat thymus lymphocytes and the activity of IFN-induced 2′,5′-oligoadenylate synthetase (2′,5′-OA-synthetase) in these cells were studied at hypoacidity of gastric juice evoked by omeprazole injection and also at ...

How to Assess in vitro Probiotic Viability and the Correct Use of Neutralizing Agents

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Probiotic viability is generally determined by quantifying its resistance to simulated gastric juice or to simulated intestinal fluid in in vitro tests, which measure microbial survival after given periods of contact.

Lipase in Canine Gastric Juice

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1970
Gastric lipase has been demonstrated in uncontaminated gastric juice (3, 4, 6) and within the gastric mucosa (1, 7) of man and various laboratory animals. In the present study, the effect of stimulation with histamine and Urecholine on secretion of lipase by canine Heidenhain pouches was determined.Materials and Methods.

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...

Species composition and overall diversity are significantly correlated between the tongue coating and gastric fluid microbiomes in gastritis patients

open access: yesBMC Medical Genomics, 2022
Background In traditional Chinese medicine, it is believed that the “tongue coating is produced by fumigation of stomach gas”, and that tongue coating can reflect the health status of humans, especially stomach health.

Mitigating subtherapeutic cabozantinib exposure after prior mitotane therapy in adrenocortical carcinoma: Pharmacological boosting with cobicistat

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Mitotane is an adrenolytic drug with cytotoxic effects, registered for the treatment of advanced adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), a rare but aggressive tumour type with a poor prognosis despite treatment. Recently, the oral multi‐kinase inhibitor cabozantinib has shown promising results as a potential second‐line treatment option.
