Assessing the utility of pepsinogens and gastrin-17 in gastric cancer detection

European Journal of Cancer Prevention, 2023
Objectives The aim of the study was to determine the proportion of gastric cancer patients with decreased levels of pepsinogen and gastrin-17 in plasma, with the goal of providing indirect evidence of the sensitivity of these biomarkers when applied in a cancer screening setting. Methods

The occurrence of Gastrin‐17 in the heart

Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1981
Radioimmunoassay revealed gastrin‐like immunoreactivity in extracts of the heart muscle from cat, guinea pig, rabbit and hog. The immunoreactivity was unevenly distributed, the highest levels being observed in extracts from the atria of the cat heart: in the right atrium ˜1000 pg/g or 450 pmol/kg and in the left atrium ˜4400 pg/g or 2000 pmol/kg.

Value of gastrin-17 in detecting antral atrophy

Advances in Medical Sciences, 2011
Decreased plasma gastrin-17 (G-17), particularly after protein stimulation, is indicative of atrophy in the antral stomach mucosa. Available data on the value of this biomarker is inconclusive. Our study was aimed to evaluate the performance of the G-17 test in Caucasian and Asian patients for antral atrophy evaluation either in fasting state or after ...

THE HETEROGENEITY OF GASTRIN, WITH REFERENCE TO CONVERSION OF GASTRIN‐17

Clinical Endocrinology, 1976
SUMMARYHigh‐resolution gel chromatography monitored by a sensitive radioimmunoassay for gastrin has disclosed that gastrin circulates in twenty different components. Since the assay is specific for the biological active sequence of gastrin (‐Trp‐Met‐Asp‐PheNH2), we conclude that all the twenty circulating molecular forms of gastrin encountered in this ...

Serum Disappearance Rate of Gastrin-17 after Vagotomy

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1979
Six duodenal ulcer patients were investigated before and after truncal vagotomy and pyloroplasty. Four doses of gastrin-17 were injected intravenously (15.625, 31.25, 62.5, and 125 micrograms/kg body weight); the gastric secretory response and the disappearance rate of gastrin were measured.

Development of amplified luminescent proximity homogeneous assay for quantitation of gastrin-17

Analytical Biochemistry, 2023
A highly sensitive and convenient amplified luminescent proximity homogeneous assay (AlphaLISA) method with high throughput and automation potential was developed for quantitation of serum Gastrin-17 (G-17) levels, which can facilitate the early diagnosis of atrophic gastritis in people at high risk of gastric cancer using a non-invasive approach.

Gastrin 17 vaccine ??? Aphton

BioDrugs, 2003
Aphton is developing an anti-gastrin vaccine [Anti-gastrin 17 immunogen, G17DT, Gastrimmune], which neutralises the gastrin 17 hormone and the Gly-G17 hormone. Gastrin 17 is a growth factor for pancreatic, stomach and colorectal cancers, and a potent stimulator of gastric acid secretion. The anti-gastrin immunogen, G17DT, consists of a large carrier ...

Displaced chromatographic elution of gastrin-17 in normal human serum

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 1994
Sulfated gastrin-17 elutes by gel chromatography significantly earlier after incubation in human serum (KD: 0.48) than when added to buffer (KD: 0.62). Also, the elution of non-sulfated gastrin-17 changes after serum incubation although to a lesser extent (KD: 0.68 vs. 0.74).

Preparation of mono-125I-labelled gastrin-17 for radioimmunoassay measurements

Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, 2000
In the present work the efficiency of two oxidising agents (chloramine-T and iodogen) for human gastrin-17 labelling is investigated, whilst the purification of ion-exchange chromatography is compared with that of reversed-phase HPLC. In the Iodogen method the extent of radioactive iodine incorporation can be as high as 95-98 % in contrast to 60-65 ...
