Reliability and Discriminant Validity of HER2 Gene Quantification and Chromosome 17 Aneusomy Analysis by Real-Time PCR in Primary Breast Cancer

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 2006
There is an increasing demand for the evaluation of HER2 status in breast cancer. In this study, sections from fixed tissues and triton extracts of tissue homogenates were obtained from 163 malignant breast tumors and analyzed in parallel using ...

Atrophic and Metaplastic Progression in the Background Mucosa of Patients with Gastric Adenoma. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
In patients with adenoma, assessing premalignant changes in the surrounding mucosa is important for surveillance. This study evaluated atrophic and metaplastic progression in the background mucosa of adenoma or early gastric cancer (EGC) cases.Among 146 ...

Perioperative Risks of Concurrent Pancreatic and Hepatic Resections for Neuroendocrine Tumors

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) account for 1%–2% of pancreatic tumors, with an increasing incidence. The safety of concurrent pancreas‐liver resections remains uncertain. This study evaluated the national outcomes of concurrent pancreatectomy and liver‐directed surgery for pNETs. Methods ACS‐NSQIP (2019–2023)

The TOP‐GERD Trial: Comparative Efficacy of Tegoprazan Versus Pantoprazole in the Treatment of Erosive Oesophagitis in a Non‐Asian Population

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
In this randomized, double‐blind trial in Mexican adults with erosive oesophagitis, tegoprazan did not significantly improve the primary 4‐week ITT healing endpoint versus pantoprazole (88.9% vs. 79.4%; p = 0.33), but produced faster symptom improvement. Encouraging per‐protocol and severe‐oesophagitis findings warrant confirmation.

Structural insights into tyrosine sulfation of CCR5 by human tyrosylprotein sulfotransferase‐1

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Structural analysis of human tyrosylprotein sulfotransferase‐1 (hTPST1) bound to a CCR5 N‐terminal peptide reveals how hTPST1 recognizes the Tyr3 sulfation site. Structure‐guided models of additional CCR5 sulfation states and full‐length assemblies provide a framework for understanding CCR5 tyrosine sulfation, a post‐translational modification relevant

Method of meal delivery influences estimates of postprandial metabolism and alkaline tide in a benthic fish

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Intragastric gavage is widely used in studies of digestive physiology to deliver standardised meals, yet it remains unclear whether it elicits postprandial metabolic and acid–base responses comparable to voluntary feeding. Here, we tested whether the method of meal delivery affects the magnitude and timing of the postprandial rise in metabolic
