Mucosal gastrin receptor. III. Regulation by gastrin

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1980
Specific binding of 125I-labeled gastrin to rat gastric mucosal membranes was found to vary with serum gastrin levels. The dissociation equilibrium constants were not significantly different between receptor preparations. However, the binding capacities of the membrane preparations were directly correlated with serum gastrin levels. Fasting, feeding a

The metabolism of gastrin-52 and gastrin-6 in pigs

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 2000
The kinetics and metabolism in various organs of three bioactive products of progastrin, the small sulfated and nonsulfated gastrin-6 and the large nonsulfated gastrin-52, were examined during intravenous administration in anesthetized pigs. The kidney, hindlimb, liver, head, and gut eliminated the hexapeptides efficiently, with a fractional extraction

Gastrin and Cancer

1992
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the biology of the gastrin system and the involvement of gastrin in the development of various forms of cancer. The chapter presents new analytical methods for the measurement of gastrin in clinical oncology. Gastrin is a well-studied hormone that is discovered as a gastric acid-stimulating factor in extracts ...

Radioimmunoassay of Gastrin

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1971
The serum gastrin in response to insulin hypoglycaemia was measured in 29 subjects by radioimmunoassay. Thirteen subjects showed a rise and 16 subjects no change in gastrin levels, although the degree of hypoglycaemia achieved in both groups was identical.

The measurement of gastrin

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2001
The days of the autumn 1970 when a gastrin assay was developed have been revisited, and the research conditions then and now compared. No valid conclusions seem possible from such a study, but a lot of facts suggest that the good old days were better.

[Gastrin and gastrin receptor].

Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 1996
Gastrin is a well known endogenous stimulator of gastric acid. In addition, recent studies have revealed that gastrin has a growth promoting effect on gastric ECL cells. Indeed, development of ECL carcinoid tumor occurs almost exclusively in patients with hypergastrinemia such as autoimmune gastritis and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome with MEN type I.
