Prolonged lipopolysaccharide‐induced illness elevates glucagon‐like peptide‐1 and suppresses peptide YY: A human‐randomized cross‐over trial

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2022
Severe systemic inflammation is associated with nausea, loss of appetite, and delayed gastric emptying, which increases hospitalization admission length and mortality rate.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Combining endoscopic variceal ligation and omeprazole sodium in treating upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage combined with liver cirrhosis

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology
Background Cirrhosis, a common chronic liver disease, leads to portal hypertension and complications like ascites and variceal bleeding. Endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) is the preferred treatment for variceal bleeding.

An effective and efficient technique for pyloric sphincter endoscopic functional lumen imaging probe placement using an extra-large-channel therapeutic endoscope

open access: yesVideoGIE
Background and Aims: Pyloric sphincter impedance planimetry (endoscopic functional lumen imaging probe [EndoFLIP]) is increasingly used to evaluate for pyloric dysfunction in patients with gastroparesis.

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...
