Tuning hydrogen adsorption on graphene by gate voltage

open access: yes, 2018
In order to realize applications of hydrogen-adsorbed graphene, a main issue is how to control hydrogen adsorption/desorption at room temperature. In this study, we demonstrate the possibility to tune hydrogen adsorption on graphene by applying a gate ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Deer guards and Bump Gates for Excluding White-Tailed Deer from Fenced Resources

open access: yesHuman-Wildlife Interactions, 2017
White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) causing damage is a reoccurring theme in the realm of wildlife damage management, especially regarding human safety, disease transmission, and agricultural losses.

Performance Evaluation of a Low Energy Universal Gate for VLSI with 16nm Technology

open access: yesNTU Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2022
NAND & NOR logic gates are general purpose logic gates that can be used to build other logic gates. This article describes a new NAND gate based on 3T (3 transistors) which has the correct output logic level and behaves similarly to the previous design ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Enzyme-Based Logic: OR Gate with Double-Sigmoid Filter Response

open access: yes, 2012
The first realization of a biomolecular OR gate function with double-sigmoid response (sigmoid in both inputs) is reported. Two chemical inputs activate the enzymatic gate processes resulting in the output signal: chromogen oxidation, which occurs when ...

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Investigating and predicting hydraulic jump energy loss with threshold (Experimental and regression analysis) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hydraulic Structures
The present investigation delves into the intricate dynamics surrounding the incorporation of thresholds and their consequential impact on parameters associated with hydraulic jumps—a phenomenon critical to the efficient functioning of the gates.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...
