Single kick approximations for beam-beam deflections
A six-dimensional symplectic beam-beam interaction map using finite discrete slices of a strong beam is extended to infinitesimal slices. The new map is calculated under the assumption of a longitudinal Gaussian distribution with approximations.

The beam spreading and evolution behavior of a partially coherent, Hermite-cosine-Gaussian (HcosG) rectangular multi-Gaussian correlated Schell-model beam propagating in oceanic turbulence is studied. Analytical expressions for the cross-spectral density

Seismic modeling using the frozen Gaussian approximation
We adopt the frozen Gaussian approximation (FGA) for modeling seismic waves. The method belongs to the category of ray-based beam methods. It decomposes seismic wavefield into a set of Gaussian functions and propagates these Gaussian functions along ...

Role of beam propagation in Goos-H\"{a}nchen and Imbert-Fedorov shifts [PDF]
We derive the polarization-dependent displacements parallel and perpendicular to the plane of incidence, for a Gaussian light beam reflected from a planar interface, taking into account the propagation of the beam.

Nonparaxial Propagation of Vectorial Elliptical Gaussian Beams
Based on the vectorial Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction integral formulae, analytical expressions for a vectorial elliptical Gaussian beam’s nonparaxial propagating in free space are derived and used to investigate target beam’s propagation properties. As

Ballistic thermal conductance limited by phonon roughness scattering: A comparison of power-law and Gaussian roughness [PDF]
In this work, we have investigated the influence of power-law roughness on the ballistic thermal conductance KTH for a nanosized beam adiabatically connected between two heat reservoirs.

Incoherent beam combination of higher-order Gaussian beam in atmospheric turbulence
In this article, an incoherent beam combination of higher-order Gaussian beams through atmospheric turbulence is studied. An analytical expression of the combined intensity and spot size of higher-order Gaussian beams such as Hermite Gaussian (HG ...

Self-accelerating and self-healing of Ince-Gaussian-like beams
The propagation of a new type of Ince-Gaussian-like beam along a predesigned parabolic trajectory in the free space is investigated numerically and experimentally.

Transverse beam tails due to inelastic scattering
Non-Gaussian beam tails producing low beam lifetimes and background to the experimental detectors can be a serious performance limitation in colliding beam facilities. We describe simulations and measurements of non-Gaussian beam tails performed on the e^

Demonstration of speckle resistance using space–time light sheets
The capacity of self-healing fields to reconstruct after passing through scattering media may prove useful in reducing speckle formation. Here, we study the speckle response of the space–time (ST) light sheet compared to a Gaussian wave packet, Airy beam,
