Genetic variability and association analysis of yield and yield attributing traits in little millet (Panicum sumatrense Roth. ex. Roem. and Schultz.)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2023
Three hundred and twenty seven germplasm accessions of little millet (Samai) including four checks were evaluated in augmented RCBD design. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed the presence of significant variability for all the traits under study

Impact of Environmental Conditions on the Spawning Migration of Sea Trout (Salmo trutta L.) in Two Large, Sub‐Arctic River Systems

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global decline in salmonid stocks has increased the need for knowledge of local adaptations and life history strategies of salmonids. In this study, we used radio‐telemetry tracking data from sea trout populations in two large high‐latitude rivers to model upstream spawning migration speed of trout in response to prevailing environmental ...

Statistical inferences for functional data

open access: yes, 2007
With modern technology development, functional data are being observed frequently in many scientific fields. A popular method for analyzing such functional data is ``smoothing first, then estimation.'' That is, statistical inference such as estimation ...

A General Family of Penalties for Combining Differing Types of Penalties in Generalized Structured Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Penalized estimation has become an established tool for regularization and model selection in regression models. A variety of penalties with specific features are available and effective algorithms for specific penalties have been proposed.

Constitution and function of intergenic genome regions in cultivated versus annual wild soybean in China

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Three‐case restricted two‐stage multi‐locus multi‐allele genome‐wide association study identified main‐effect genes and detected the regulatory effects of intergenic loci on genes, enabling comprehensive dissection of the genic‐intergenic genetic system for quantitative traits and providing a strategy for studying their genetic basis.

Screening for Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda J. E. Smith) Resistance in Early‐Maturing Tropical Maize Adapted to Sub‐Saharan Africa

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fall armyworm (FAW) (Spodoptera frugiperda J. E. Smith) has emerged as a serious pest since 2016 in Africa, affecting the food security and livelihoods of millions of smallholder farmers, especially those growing maize. Native genetic resistance to FAW is essential for reducing yield loss.

Model term selection for spatio-temporal system identification using mutual information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A new mutual information based algorithm is introduced for term selection in spatio-temporal models. A generalised cross validation procedure is also introduced for model length determination and examples based on cellular automata, coupled map lattice ...

Generalized SURE for Exponential Families: Applications to Regularization

open access: yes, 2008
Stein's unbiased risk estimate (SURE) was proposed by Stein for the independent, identically distributed (iid) Gaussian model in order to derive estimates that dominate least-squares (LS).
