The GDL Vulnerability Index (GVI) [PDF]

open access: yesSocial Indicators Research
AbstractIn this paper we present the GDL Vulnerability Index (GVI), a new composite index to monitor and analyse the human components of vulnerability to climate change, natural disasters, and other kinds of shocks, for societies and geographic areas across the globe.

Prion infections and anti-PrP antibodies trigger converging neurotoxic pathways.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2015
Prions induce lethal neurodegeneration and consist of PrPSc, an aggregated conformer of the cellular prion protein PrPC. Antibody-derived ligands to the globular domain of PrPC (collectively termed GDL) are also neurotoxic.

Scale model experiments for evaluation of liquid water transport in the gas diffusion layer of PEFCs

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2018
In polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs), a gas diffusion layer (GDL) is a critical component to prevent flooding and to improve the cell efficiency under high current density operation.

Toward a combustion-driven mixing GDL [PDF]

open access: yesRevue de Physique Appliquée, 1977
The influence of various pollutants on the ONERA CO2/N 2/He mixing GDL is evaluated. Special attention is paid to those chemicals likely to appear in a combustion-driven system. For our plenum conditions (12 atm, 3 000 K), it is found that at most 5 % H2O, 10 % H2, or 15 % CO2 by volume can be tolerated among combustion products.

Accelerated Oxygen Evolution Kinetics in Layered Double Perovskites via Hydroxide Surface Engineering for Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Our work showcases an innovative approach to address fundamental challenge in AEMWE system by constructing NiFe(OH)x/PBSCF heterostructure via scalable and conformal surface engineering process. Electrical conductivity gradient in the heterostructure increases the OER kinetics by promoting charge transfer, while balancing cation dissolution and re ...

Study of Mass Transport in the Anode of a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell with a New Hydrogen Flow‐Rate Modulation Technique

open access: yesChemElectroChem
Hydrogen transport in the anode of a proton‐exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has been studied with a modulation technique relating the hydrogen flow‐rate ( Q˜H2 ) and the faradaic current ( I˜ ), called Current‐modulated Hydrogen flow‐rate ...

Better 10‐Year Cerebrovascular Outcome After Transplant Than on Standard‐Care in Sickle Cell Anemia: DREPAGREFFE Trial

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Management of cerebral vasculopathy in sickle cell anemia (SCA) includes standard‐care, that is, chronic transfusion (CT) or hydroxyurea, and hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). DREPAGREFFE‐1 (December 2010/June 2013), a French multicenter trial, was the first prospective trial comparing standard‐care to match sibling donor (MSD)‐HCT in ...
