Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Purification of a 19-kDa pore-forming cytolysin from the sea anemone Heteractis magnifica

open access: yesJournal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases, 2010
Pore-forming cytolysins of 19 kDa from sea anemones present a remarkable cytolytic property. In the present work, a purified 19-kDa cytolysin was obtained from the sea anemone Heteractis magnifica.

Hydrophobic interaction chromatography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Most proteins and large polypeptides have hydrophobic regions at their surface. These hydrophobic ‘patches’ are due to the presence of the side chains of hydrophobic or non-polar amino acids such as phenylalanine, tryptophan, alanine and methionine ...

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Separation of individual sulfated bile acid conjugates as calcium complexes using reversed-phase partition thin-layer chromatography.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1979
A method for separating individual monosulfated primary bile acid conjugates by reversed-phase partition thin-layer chromatography on octadecyl-bonded silica gel is described.

A saposin-lipoprotein nanoparticle system for membrane proteins. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A limiting factor in membrane protein research is the ability to solubilize and stabilize such proteins. Detergents are used most often for solubilizing membrane proteins, but they are associated with protein instability and poor compatibility with ...

Chemoselective Sequential Polymerization: An Approach Toward Mixed Plastic Waste Recycling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by biological protein metabolism, this study demonstrates the closed‐loop recycling of mixed synthetic polymers via ring‐closing depolymerization followed by a chemoselective sequential polymerizations process. The approach recovers pure polymers from mixed feedstocks, even in multilayer formats, highlighting a promising strategy to overcome a

The Role Seemingly of Amorphous Silica Gel Layers in Chiral Separations by Planar Chromatography [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Analytical & Environmental Chemistry, 2007
In planar chromatography, silica gel appears as the most frequently used adsorbent. Its preference as planar chromatographic stationary phase is due to its high specific surface area (ca.

Development of quality assurance methods for epoxy graphite prepreg [PDF]

open access: yes
Quality assurance methods for graphite epoxy/prepregs were developed. Liquid chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, and gel permeation chromatography were investigated. These methods were applied to a second prepreg system.

Enantioselective Total Synthesis of (—)-Acetylaranotin, a Dihydrooxepine Epidithiodiketopiperazine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The first total synthesis of the dihydrooxepine-containing epidithiodiketopiperazine (ETP) (−)-acetylaranotin (1) is reported. The key steps of the synthesis include an enantioselective azomethine ylide (1,3)-dipolar cycloaddition reaction to set the ...
