De Novo Design of Integrin α5β1 Modulating Proteins to Enhance Biomaterial Properties
NeoNectins are de novo‐designed miniproteins that selectively bind and stabilize the extended open form of integrin α5β1. When grafted onto biomaterials including hydrogel and titanium, they promote cell attachment and spreading in vitro and promoting tissue integration and bone growth in animal models, demonstrating broad potential for regenerative ...

We report a 3.2 Å cryoEM structure of functional amyloid protein FapC from Pseudomonas sp. UK4, an essential component of bacterial biofilm, which reveals a Greek key‐shaped protofilament, supports bioinformatically determined motifs, nuances AlphaFold predictions, emphasizes heterogeneous cross‐β stacking in amyloid cross‐seeding and shows strain ...

Gene Duplication in Insecticide Resistance
Gene duplication is a widely observed phenomenon in all three kingdoms of life and is considered to be a major driving force in the evolution of genomes and organisms. Gene duplication refers to any duplication event of a region of DNA that contains genes, eventually giving rise to gene families.

Gene content in genomes changes through several different processes, with gene duplication being an important contributor to such changes. Gene duplication occurs over a range of scales from individual genes to whole genomes, and the dynamics of this ...

Thermal annealing improves the structure, stiffness, and piezoelectric properties of poly(vinylidene flouride‐trifluoroethylene) (PVDF‐TrFE) nanofiber scaffolds. These annealed scaffolds promote Schwann cell proliferation and matrix remodeling in vitro and demonstrate in vivo biocompatibility.
