Proanthocyanidins (PAs) are major defense phenolic compounds in the leaves of poplar (Populus spp.) in response to abiotic and biotic stresses. Transcriptional regulation of PA biosynthetic genes by the MYB-basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)-WD40 complexes in

Structural and Biochemical Characterization of a Widespread Enterobacterial Peroxidase Encapsulin
Encapsulins are self‐assembling bacterial protein compartments loaded with cargo enzymes. The most abundant encapsulin cargo class are Dye‐decolorizing Peroxidases (DyPs). In this study, we structurally and biochemically characterize a DyP encapsulin found in many enterobacteria.

Genes Preferring Non-AUG Start Codons in Bacteria [PDF]
Here we investigate translational regulation in bacteria by analyzing the distribution of start codons in fully assembled genomes. We report 36 genes (infC, rpoC, rnpA, etc.) showing a preference for non-AUG start codons in evolutionarily diverse phyla ("non-AUG genes").

Stochastic modeling of regulation of gene expression by multiple small RNAs [PDF]
A wealth of new research has highlighted the critical roles of small RNAs (sRNAs) in diverse processes such as quorum sensing and cellular responses to stress. The pathways controlling these processes often have a central motif comprising of a master regulator protein whose expression is controlled by multiple sRNAs.

Viridicatol from the Deep‐Sea‐Derived Fungus Alleviates Bone Loss by Targeting the Wnt/SHN3 Pathway
Viridicatol (VDC), isolated from the deep‐sea‐derived fungus, enhances osteogenesis in vitro and in vivo by targeting Wnt/SHN3 signaling pathway. It can be delivered via engineered nanovesicles to mitigate bone loss of osteoporosis, fracture repair, and osteogenesis imperfecta.

Stochastic model of transcription factor-regulated gene expression [PDF]
We consider a stochastic model of transcription factor (TF)-regulated gene expression. The model describes two genes: Gene A and Gene B which synthesize the TFs and the target gene proteins respectively. We show through analytic calculations that the TF fluctuations have a significant effect on the distribution of the target gene protein levels when ...

The biosynthetic mechanism of novel natural tetramic acid S‐TeA in Alternaria alternata is elucidated. Threonine acts as a precursor for 2‐amino‐3‐methylhexanoic acid (AMHA) synthesis via eight key enzymes from the branched‐chain amino acid biosynthetic pathway in the mitochondrion, wherein three unique enzymes (IPMS, IPMDH, and ISMD) play critical ...

Exact distributions for stochastic models of gene expression with arbitrary regulation [PDF]
Stochasticity in gene expression can result in fluctuations in gene product levels. Recent experiments indicated that feedback regulation plays an important role in controlling the noise in gene expression. A quantitative understanding of the feedback effect on gene expression requires analysis of the corresponding stochastic model.

The genome of Megachile rotundata, an extensively managed solitary pollination bee species, has been sequenced, covering 280.68 Mb and predicting 10 701 genes. The study reveals significant expansions of the Toll gene family and their abundant expression in diapause prepupae, highlighting enhanced immune responses during diapause. This genome serves as
