Gene co-expression networks identify Trem2 and Tyrobp as major hubs in human APOE expressing mice following traumatic brain injury

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2017
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is strongly linked to an increased risk of developing dementia, including chronic traumatic encephalopathy and possibly Alzheimer's disease (AD).

A Phase‐Separated SR Protein Reprograms Host Pre‐mRNA Splicing to Enhance Disease Susceptibility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies SR30, a splicing factor, as a negative regulator of tomato immunity. During Phytophthora infestans infection, the elevated SR30 forms nuclear condensates to suppress the alternative splicing (AS) of defense‐related genes in a phase separation manner.

Novel Antimicrobial Protein Fibroblast Growth Factor 8 Accelerates Skin Wound Healing via Directly Inhibiting Bacteria and Activating Glycolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wound infections induce gcFGF8a expression, which subsequently executes direct antimicrobial activity to suppress local infection while simultaneously activating the FGFR4‐mediated ERK/AKT‐mTOR signaling cascade, thereby upregulating HIF1α and enhancing glycolysis. These coordinated actions synergistically promote tissue repair by eliminating pathogens

A naturally occurring isoform of the human macrophage scavenger receptor (SR-A) gene generated by alternative splicing blocks modified LDL uptake1

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1998
The class A macrophage scavenger receptors (SR-A) are macrophage-specific trimeric integral membrane glycoproteins that have been implicated in many macrophage-associated physiological and pathological processes including atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's ...

A Dual Approach with Organoid and CRISPR Screening Reveals ERCC6 as a Determinant of Cisplatin Resistance in Osteosarcoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilizes patient‐derived osteosarcoma organoids and CRISPR screening to identify ERCC6 and HNRNPM as key mediators of cisplatin resistance via the PI3K/AKT pathway and BAX alternative splicing. These findings provide novel insights and potential therapeutic targets for overcoming chemoresistance in osteosarcoma.

[Cloning, expression, and alternative splicing of the novel isoform of hTCP11 gene].

open access: yesZhongguo yi xue ke xue yuan xue bao. Acta Academiae Medicinae Sinicae, 2003
To identify a novel isoform of hTCP11 gene and investigate its expression and alternative splicing.According to the sequence of human ESTs which are highly homologous to hTCP11a, primers for PCR were synthesized. Then, the amplified fragments were cloned and sequenced; some methods including BLAST, ClustalW and RT-PCR were used for genomic analysis ...

Kindlin Regulates Mechanosensitive Activation and Adhesion Assembly of Integrin beta6

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Extracellular matrix compliance plays a critical role in the regulation of integrin‐mediated adhesion and cell motility. Here, it is reported that strengthening the kindlin2‐integrin β6 interaction overcomes the dependence on extracellular substrate stiffness and promotes integrin β6‐mediated cell migration.
