Bufalin Inhibits the PI3K/AKT Pathway by Targeting GTF3C4 to Impede Breast Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanisms of Bufalin‐Mediated Intervention in Breast Cancer. ABSTRACT Breast cancer incidence is rising globally, presenting challenges such as treatment side effects and drug resistance. Bufalin is a bufadienolides compound with potential anti‐cancer effects. This study shows that bufalin inhibits malignant proliferation of MDA‐MB‐231 and MCF‐7 cells

Vitamin D Regulates Olfactory Function via Dual Transcriptional and mTOR‐Dependent Translational Control of Synaptic Proteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Vitamin D (VitD) modulates olfactory function by remodeling dendrodendritic synapses in tufted cells through vitamin D receptor‐dependent transcriptional and translational mechanisms. VitD regulates synaptic protein translation partially via mTOR signaling.

GPR39-mediated ERK1/2 signaling reduces permethrin-induced proliferation of estrogen receptor α-negative cells

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Certain insecticides are known to have estrogenic effects by activating estrogen receptors through genomic transcription. This has led researchers to associate specific insecticide use with an increased breast cancer risk.

Multiple tumor suppressors regulate a HIF-dependent negative feedback loop via ISGF3 in human clear cell renal cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Whereas VHL inactivation is a primary event in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the precise mechanism(s) of how this interacts with the secondary mutations in tumor suppressor genes, including PBRM1, KDM5C/JARID1C, SETD2, and/or BAP1, remains ...

Strawberry Notch 1 Acts as a Transcriptional Regulator Driving Oncogenic Programs in Liver Carcinogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports that SBNO1 protein is upregulated in several cancer entities. SBNO1 protein interacts with the basal transcription factor TFIID via TAF4, enabling its recruitment to transcription start sites and the modulation of target gene expression.

Meeting review : ESF workshop on "Impact of nucleic acid chemistry on gene function analysis: antisense, aptamers, ribozymes and RNAi" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The shortage of functional information compared to the abundance of sequence information characterizes today’s situation in functional genomics. For many years the knock-down of a gene’s product has been the most powerful way of analysing its function ...

NDST3‐Induced Epigenetic Reprogramming Reverses Neurodegeneration in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NDST3‐mediated epigenetic reprogramming revitalizes neuronal circuits in the substantia nigra and striatum to halt dopaminergic neuron degeneration and restore motor function in Parkinson's disease models. This strategy promotes neuronal maintenance and functional recovery, highlighting NDST3's therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative disorders ...

The PI4K2A gene positively regulates lipid synthesis in bovine mammary epithelial cells and attenuates the inhibitory effect of t10,c12-CLA on lipid synthesis

open access: yesScientific Reports
Currently, the identification of valuable candidate genes affecting milk fat synthesis in dairy cows is still limited, and the specific regulatory mechanism is still unknown. In this study, we used primary bovine mammary epithelial cells(BMECs)as a model

Determining cellular and biochemical function of a novel adhesion molecule in kidneys. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Acute kidney injury is an abrupt loss of kidney function that develops in short time with limited effective treatments other than kidney transplantation. We have identified TMIGD1 (Transmembrane immuno- globulin domain 1) as a novel receptor expressed in

METTL1‐Mediated M7G tRNA Modification Promotes Residual Liver Regeneration After Hepatectomy via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
METTL1 and its mediated m7G tRNA modification are significantly up‐regulated after partial hepatectomy (PHx). Overexpression of METTL1 improves the efficiency of liver regeneration after PHx, increases the proliferation of hepatocytes, and accelerates the recovery of liver function.
