Immunological characterization of the gag gene products of bovine immunodeficiency virus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1992
The bovine immunodeficiency virus (BIV) gag gene encodes a 53-kDa precursor (Pr53gag) that is involved in virus particle assembly and is further processed into the putative matrix (MA), capsid (CA), and nucleocapsid (NC) functional domains in the mature virus. Gag determinants are also found in the Gag-Pol polyprotein precursor.

The second pX product p27x‐III of HTLV‐1 is required for gag gene expression [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1986
The human T‐cell leukemia virus type‐1 (HTLV‐1) contains a unique pX region, which encodes the gene products p40 x , p27 x‐III and p21 x‐III . p40 x is required for transcriptional trans‐activation, whereas p27 x‐III and p21 x‐III have no such function.

Tryptic peptide analysis of avian oncovirus gag and pol gene products [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1979
Radiolabeled tryptic peptides of the gag and pol gene products of avian oncoviruses were examined. This analysis included Rous-associated virus 2 structural proteins and the Pr76gag and P180gag-pol proteins in Rous-associated virus 2-infected chicken embryo cells.

Biochemical and immunological analysis of human immunodeficiency virus gag gene products p17 and p24 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1988
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) p24 was purified to homogeneity and subjected to NH2-terminal sequencing. The sequence determined perfectly corresponded to the amino acid sequence predicted from the nucleotide sequence of a middle portion of the HIV first open frame: the gag gene.

Mutations in the gag gene of Moloney murine leukemia virus: effects on production of virions and reverse transcriptase [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1984
We have constructed a series of deletion mutations in the p30 and p10 domains of the gag gene of Moloney murine leukemia virus. Mutants with deletions in P30 were completely defective in virion particle production even though an altered gag precursor protein is synthesized. This domain is apparently critical for particle formation.

N-terminally myristoylated feline foamy virus Gag allows Env-independent budding of sub-viral particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Foamy viruses (FVs) are distinct retroviruses classified as Spumaretrovirinae in contrast to the other retroviruses, the Orthoretrovirinae. As a unique feature of FVs, Gag is not sufficient for sub-viral particle (SVP) release. In primate and feline FVs (

The gag gene products of human immunodeficiency virus type 1: alignment within the gag open reading frame, identification of posttranslational modifications, and evidence for alternative gag precursors [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1988
Seven human immunodeficiency virus gag polypeptides were identified in the purified virus and in infected CD4+ lymphocytes by peptide mapping and limited amino acid sequencing of immune-purified proteins. Two gag polyproteins of 55,000 (p55) and 41,000 (p41) daltons were rapidly labeled and readily processed into the major internal gag proteins that ...

Molecular investigation of possible relationships concerning bovine leukemia virus and breast cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Worldwide, breast cancer has an eminent morbidity and mortality rate, as it is a neoplastic disease among females. The query of the prospective danger of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) to humans is an old but exceedingly topical focus of scientific debate ...

The role of the HIV-1 protease substrate in therapy resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In Switzerland and Germany up to a half of the first-line regimens include protease inhibitors (PIs) [1, 2]. Although in the Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS) most patients under antiretroviral therapy (ART) have suppressed viral loads [3], every third ...

Fowlpoxvirus recombinants coding for the CIITA gene increase the expression of endogenous MHC-II and Fowlpox Gag/Pro and Env SIV transgenes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
A complete eradication of an HIV infection has never been achieved by vaccination and the search for new immunogens that can induce long-lasting protective responses is ongoing.
