Gi- and Gs-coupled GPCRs show different modes of G-protein binding. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
More than two decades ago, the activation mechanism for the membrane-bound photoreceptor and prototypical G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) rhodopsin was uncovered.

A new approach on helices in pseudo-Riemannian manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we give a definition of harmonic curvature functions in terms of V_{n} and define a new kind of slant helix which is called V_{n}-slant helix in n-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifold.

A Miniaturized Dual-Orbital-Angular-Momentum (OAM)–Mode Helix Antenna

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Traditional helix antenna is firstly modified to radiate orbital angular momentum (OAM) wave, which has a compact size and an outstanding gain. Firstly, general principle of generating OAM by helix antenna is introduced.

Direct Determination of DNA Twist-Stretch Coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The symmetries of the DNA double helix require a new term in its linear response to stress: the coupling between twist and stretch. Recent experiments with torsionally-constrained single molecules give the first direct measurement of this important ...

Non-Abelian spin-orbit gauge: Persistent spin helix and quantum square ring

open access: yes, 2007
We re-express the Rashba and Dresselhaus interactions as non-Abelian spin-orbit gauges and provide a new perspective in understanding the persistent spin helix [Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 236601 (2006)].

Discovery of novel helix binding sites at protein-protein interfaces

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, 2019
Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) play a key role in numerous biological processes. Many efforts have been undertaken to develop PPI modulators for therapeutic applications; however, to date, most of the peptide binders designed to target PPIs are ...

Helicalised fractals

open access: yes, 2015
We formulate the helicaliser, which replaces a given smooth curve by another curve that winds around it. In our analysis, we relate this formulation to the geometrical properties of the self-similar circular fractal (the discrete version of the curved ...

Visible Volume: a Robust Measure for Protein Structure Characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We propose a new characterization of protein structure based on the natural tetrahedral geometry of the β carbon and a new geometric measure of structural similarity, called visible volume.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Correction of Constricted Ear – Case Report

open access: yesLietuvos Chirurgija
Introduction. Congenital deformities of the outer ear are common; reported incidence are from 1:6000 to 1:6830 newborns. Multitude of corrective procedures are described in the literature. Purpose of the case study.
