A variance shilf model for outlier detection and estimation in linear and linear mixed models
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references.Outliers are data observations that fall outside the usual conditional ranges of the response data. They are common in experimental research data, for example, due to transcription errors or faulty ...

Testing for spatial heterogeneity in functional MRI using the multivariate general linear model [PDF]
Much current research in functional MRI employs multivariate machine learning approaches (e.g., support vector machines) to detect fine-scale spatial patterns from the temporal fluctuations of the neural signal.

We consider the general linear model y = Xβββ + εεε, denoted as M = {y, Xβββ, V}, supplemented with the new unobservable random vector y∗, coming from y∗ = X∗βββ + εεε∗, where the covariance matrix of y∗ is known as well as the cross-covariance matrix ...

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

A New Approach to the Formant Measuring Problem
Formants are characteristic frequency components in human speech that are caused by resonances in the vocal tract during speech production. They are of primary concern in acoustic phonetics and speech recognition.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Computer Automation of General-to-Specific Model Selection Procedures [PDF]
That econometric methodology remains in dispute partly reflects the lack of clear evidence on alternative approaches. This paper reconsiders econometric model selection from a computer-automation perspective, focusing on general-to-specific reduction ...
