Estimating preclinical amyloid positivity: A case study transporting ADNI to ARIC

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Translational Research & Clinical Interventions
INTRODUCTION Alzheimer's disease and related dementias researchers have benefited from deeply phenotyped clinical samples; however, there is a critical need for estimates that generalize to diverse, representative populations.

Uncovering the genetic architecture and evolutionary roots of androgenetic alopecia in African men

open access: yesHGG Advances
Summary: Androgenetic alopecia is a highly heritable trait. However, much of our understanding about the genetics of male-pattern baldness comes from individuals of European descent.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

RESIdual STability (RESIST) Calibration for Improved Hydrological Model Time Generalizability

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Hydrological models are calibrated on specific periods based on how well simulations match streamflow observations by selecting the parameter vector(s) that provide the highest accuracy.

Generalizability of High Frequency Oscillation Evaluations in the Ripple Band

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2018
Objective: We examined the interrater reliability and generalizability of high-frequency oscillation (HFO) visual evaluations in the ripple (80–250 Hz) band, and established a framework for the transition of HFO analysis to routine clinical care. We were

Sources of Measurement Error in an ECG Examination: Implications for Performance-Based Assessments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Objective: To assess the sources of measurement error in an electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation examination given in a third-year internal medicine clerkship. Design: Three successive generalizability studies were conducted.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

The case for multiple UESDs and an application to migrant deaths in the Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesPolitical Science Research and Methods
Many recent applications of the “Unexpected Event during Survey Design” (UESD) analyze single cases of frequently occurring events. In this research note, I question the generalizability of research findings obtained this way and demonstrate the ...

Development of the Motivational Interviewing Supervision and Training Scale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The movement to use empirically supported treatments has increased the need for researchers and supervisors to evaluate therapists’ adherence to and the quality with which they implement those interventions. Few empirically supported approaches exist for
