Automatic segmentation of lumbar vertebrae in digital videofluoroscopic images

open access: yes, 2004
Low back pain is a significant problem in the industrialized world. Diagnosis of the underlying causes can be extremely difficult. Since mechanical factors often play an important role, it can be helpful to study the motion of the spine.

A Survey of Interlayer Interaction Models for Graphene and Other 2D Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Van der Waals interactions arising from electronic polarization at atomically close interfaces generate corrugated interlayer energy landscapes that govern normal and tangential tractions. This review presents an overview of quantum, atomistic, analytical, and continuum modeling approaches, highlighting their roles across length scales in capturing ...

Integral transformation for nonlinear oscillators

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control
This paper introduces a generalized integral transform that encompasses the Laplace, Fourier, and numerous contemporary integral transforms as particular instances, while preserving their defining characteristics.

THE SOLUTION OF AN OPTIMAL CONTROL PROBLEM FOR A THIRD-ORDER EQUATION IN THE PRESENCE OF DISTRIBUTED AND STARTING CONTROLS

open access: yesМіжнародний науково-технічний журнал "Проблеми керування та інформатики"
There are a large number of scientific articles and monographs devoted to various problems of control theory in systems described by partial differential equations, which are fairly well represented in [1–6].

Generalization and modularization of two-dimensional adaptive coordinate transformations for the Fourier modal method

open access: yesOptics Express, 2014
The Fourier modal method (FMM) has advanced greatly by using adaptive coordinates and adaptive spatial resolution. The convergence characteristics were shown to be improved significantly, a construction principle for suitable meshes was demonstrated and a guideline for the optimal choice of the coordinate transformation parameters was found.

Generalized time-frequency coherency for assessing neural interactions in electrophysiological recordings

open access: yes, 2011
Time-frequency coherence has been widely used to quantify statistical dependencies in bivariate data and has proven to be vital for the study of neural interactions in electrophysiological recordings.

Sparse generalized Fourier transforms

open access: yes, 2005
Block-diagonalization of sparse equivariant discretization matrices is studied. Such matrices typically arise when partial differential equations that evolve in symmetric geometries are discretized via the finite element method or via finite differences.

Solution of EPD by Fourier Transform Method

open access: yes, 2019
We solve the Euler-Poisson-Darboux (EPD) equation using the Fourier transform method. The inverse Fourier transform is found using a convolution with the Heaviside step function in order to obtain the solution.
