The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Novel Decoder for Unknown Diversity Channels Employing Space-Time Codes

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2002
We suggest new decoding techniques for diversity channels employing space time codes (STC) when the channel coefficients are unknown to both transmitter and receiver.

On sequential versions of the generalized likelihood ratio test [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1979
AbstractIt is shown that the Wilks large sample likelihood ratio statistic λn, for testing between composite hypotheses Θ0 ⊂ Θ1 on the basis of a sample of size n, behaves as n varies like a diffusion process related to an equilibrium Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, whenever the null hypothesis is true.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Degenerate‐Generalized Likelihood Ratio Test for One‐Sided Composite Hypotheses [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2012
We propose the degenerate‐generalized likelihood ratio test (DGLRT) for one‐sided composite hypotheses in cases of independent and dependent observations. The theoretical results show that the DGLRT has controlled error probabilities and stops sampling with probability 1 under some regularity conditions.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

On some aspects of a bivariate alternative zero-inflated logarithmic series distribution

open access: yesStatistical Theory and Related Fields, 2023
In this paper, we discuss some important aspects of the bivariate alternative zero-inflated logarithmic series distribution (BAZILSD) of which the marginals are the alternative zero-inflated logarithmic series distributions of Kumar and Riyaz (2015.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

A Particle Filtering Approach to Change Detection for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2004
We present a change detection method for nonlinear stochastic systems based on particle filtering. We assume that the parameters of the system before and after change are known.
