Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Lamotrigine in children with refractory epilepsy
We studied the efficacy and side effect profile oflamotrigine (LTG) in children with intractable epilepsy. We reviewed the database of our prolonged video-EEG laboratory to screen patients with intractable epilepsy who were on LTG either alone or ...

This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Making Generalizations about Seizure Propagation [PDF]
The Source of Afterdischarge Activity in Neocortical Tonic–Clonic Epilepsy. Trevelyan AJ, Baldeweg T, van Drongelen W, Yuste R, Whittington M. J Neurosci 2007;27(49):13513–13519. Tonic–clonic seizures represent a common pattern of epileptic discharges, yet the relationship between the various phases of the seizure remains obscure.

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Seizure Detection and Network Dynamics of Generalized Convulsive Seizures: Towards Rational Designing of Closed-Loop Neuromodulation [PDF]
Objective. Studies have demonstrated the utility of closed-loop neuromodulation in treating focal onset seizures. There is an utmost need of neurostimulation therapy for generalized tonic-clonic seizures.
