Short-term reliability evaluation for power stations by using ${Lz}$-transform

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2013
A short-term reliability evaluation is used for power stations, where each power generating unit is presented by a multi-state Markov model. The main obstacle for reliability evaluation in such a case is a “curse of dimensionality”—a

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Generating Innovations in Economic Variables [PDF]

open access: yes
Stock prices should respond only to unpredictable components of economic news (‘innovations’) in efficient markets. While innovations used in empirical investigations of the economic underpinnings of stock market risk should at least satisfy this basic ...

Development of overcurrent relay based on wavelet transform for fault detection in transmission line

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study proposes a protection relay using a microcontroller to detect and classify faults in transmission lines based on the wavelet transform. An experimental model was constructed from an actual 115 kV transmission system prototype.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

On modeling pollution-generating technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We distinguish between intended production and residual generation and introduce the concept of by-production. We show that by-production provides the fundamental explanation for the positive correlation that is observed between intended production and ...

Generating a checking sequence with a minimum number of reset transitions

open access: yes, 2010
Given a finite state machine M, a checking sequence is an input sequence that is guaranteed to lead to a failure if the implementation under test is faulty and has no more states than M. There has been much interest in the automated generation of a short

Optimizing electrical production from renewable energy with electrochemical hybrid-energy storage system at EGAT, Mae-Moh Site

open access: yesEnergy Nexus
The optimization of the renewable energy system was examined through mathematical simulations utilizing the HOMER program. The simulations were performed in alignment with the real implementations called “demonstration site”, where was effectively ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Forward Into the Past: Productivity Retrogression in the Electric Generating Industry [PDF]

open access: yes
The electric utility industry is a prime culprit in the U.S. productivity growth slowdown of the last Iwo decades. This paper develops econometric labor and fuel demand equations for a large panel data set covering almost all fossil-fueled electric ...
