Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

A practical generation-interval-based approach to inferring the strength of epidemics from their speed

open access: yesEpidemics, 2019
Infectious disease outbreaks are often characterized by the reproduction number R and exponential rate of growth r. R provides information about outbreak control and predicted final size, but estimating R is difficult, while r can often be estimated ...

A Generalized Interval LU Decomposition for the Solution of Interval Linear Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Generalized intervals (intervals whose bounds are not constrained to be increasingly ordered) extend classical intervals providing better algebraic properties. In particular, the generalized interval arithmetic is a group for addition and for multiplication of zero free intervals.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Generation of an Interval Metric Scale to Measure Attitude

open access: yesSAGE Open, 2014
This article discusses issues of scales in measuring attitude, demonstrates how a metric scale can be generated based on three main features, and presents results from a repeated measurement survey to verify the generated scale.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Optimum breeding generation interval considering buildup of relatedness

open access: yes, 2001
Models taking genetic gain, relatedness, delay at generation turnover, and breeding population size into account have been developed to optimize selection age and generation interval. Relatedness (expressed as group coancestry) and average breeding value
