The Norwegian market for pharmaceuticals and the non-mandatory substitution reform of 2001: The case of enalapril [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A new demand model which accounts for the effect of the age of drugs on pharmaceutical demand is provided. Within this framework the problem of persistence in consumption of original branded drugs and a particular case of intra-molecular substitution are

G4‐Ligand‐Directed PROTACs Unveil DR1 as a Novel Ligand‐Co‐Binding G4‐Protein and Reshape G4‐Dependent Transcription

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
G4‐binding proteins (G4BPs) that specifically co‐bind G4s in the presence of small‐molecule ligands represent a critical but unexplored class of proteins. We introduce G4‐Ligand‐Directed PROTACs (G4L‐TACs), a chemical platform that couples G4 ligands (PDS) to E3 recruiters to selectively degrade these ligand‐co‐binding G4BPs.

INB3P: A Multi‐Modal and Interpretable Co‐Attention Framework Integrating Property‐Aware Explanations and Memory‐Bank Contrastive Fusion for Blood–Brain Barrier Penetrating Peptide Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
INB3P is a multimodal framework for blood–brain barrier‐penetrating peptide prediction under extreme data scarcity and class imbalance. By combining physicochemical‐guided augmentation, sequence–structure co‐attention, and imbalance‐aware optimization, it improves predictive performance and interpretability.

Regulation, generic competition and pharmaceutical prices: Theory and evidence from a natural experiment [PDF]

open access: yes
We study the impact of regulatory regimes on generic competition and pharmaceutical pricing using a unique policy experiment in Norway, where reference pricing (RP) replaced price cap regulation in 2003 for a sub-sample of off-patent products. We exploit

Constraint of Lignin–Carbohydrate Complex Orchestrated on Polyphenol in Oil–Water Interface Targeting Ulcerative Colitis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructed the W1/O/W2 emulsion–based targeted therapy delivery system for ulcerative colitis (UC) utilizing LCC as surfactant for the first time. This multifunctional emulsion offered certain therapeutic advantages for UC, including targeted colonic delivery of active compounds, synergistic modulation of gut microbiota through combined ...

Is It Possible to Have Cheaper Drugs and Preserve the Incentive to Innovate: Reforming the Drug Approval Process According to Market Principles [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper argues that drugs are expensive not because of a lack of competition among research-based pharmaceutical companies, but because of a lack of competition in the drug approval process.

Construction of a MOF‐Based Snap‐Top Delivery Nanosystem for Powerful Dual‐Responsive Synergistic Colitis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A snap‐top delivery nanosystem based on an azobenzene metal–organic framework achieves targeted release of 6‐mercaptopurine via acid‐stable frameworks and hypoxia/pH dual‐responsive β‐cyclodextrin gates. This multifunctional platform integrates three synergistic mechanisms: precision drug delivery to inflammatory sites, intrinsic antioxidant properties

Single‐Particle Mid‐Infrared Photothermal Imaging Reveals Hidden Heterogeneity in Real‐World Micro‐ and Nanoplastics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mid‐infrared photothermal imaging enables multidimensional profiling of micro‐ and nanoplastics in bottled water. A total of 9.9 × 104 particles L−1 is detected, with 64% in the nanoscale regime. Spectral evolution, including peak narrowing and band shifts, reveals local chain reorganization in polyethylene terephthalate (PET), highlighting intrinsic ...
