Immunosenescence of macrophages: reduced MHC class II gene expression
Experimental Gerontology, 2002In order to determine the effect of aging on macrophages, we produced bone marrow-derived macrophages in vitro from young and aged mice. We analyzed the effect of aging on the genomic expression of macrophages in these conditions, without the influence of other cell types that may be affected by aging.

Negative regulation of MHC class II gene expression by CXCR4
Experimental Hematology, 2006CXCR4 is overexpressed in 23 types of cancers of both hematopoietic and nonhematopoietic origin. Based on the known role of CXCR4 and its ligand CXCL12 in homing of hematopoietic cells, CXCR4 is likely to play a role in metastasis. We have initiated a study aimed at dissecting additional functions of CXCR4 in cancer cells, particularly in relation to ...

Functional expression of a transfected murine class II MHC gene
Nature, 1983The activation of T helper lymphocytes involves the recognition of class II major histocompatibility complex antigens, which are dimeric glycoproteins (of subunit composition A alpha A beta or E alpha E beta) expressed on the surfaces of macrophages and B lymphocytes.

New class ll-like genes in the murine MHC
Nature, 1991Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules present endogenous antigens to CD8+ (cytotoxic) T cells. MHC class II molecules present primarily exogenously derived antigens to CD4+ T cells. Three new genes (Ma, Mb1 and Mb2) located between the Pb and Ob genes of the murine MHC have properties indicating that they are members of the MHC class

The nucleotide sequence of the sheep MHC class II DNA gene
Immunogenetics, 1995The human MHC class II DNA gene was identified and sequenced by Trowsdale and Kelly. When a molecular map of the HLA-D region became available, it was shown that the HLA-DNA gene was unusual in not having a B gene partner situated within a few kilobases (kb), the nearest B gene being HLA-DPB1.

Mhc Class II Genes of Nonhuman Primates
1997In humans the HLA-D region was originally discovered by use of the mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) test. This assay is based on coculturing lymphocyte suspensions of two unrelated individuals and actually measures the proliferative capacity of T lymphocytes.

Characterization of the MHC class II α-chain gene in ducks
Immunogenetics, 2011In humans, classical MHC class II molecules include DQ, DR, and DP, which are similar in structure but consist of distinct α- and β-chains. The genes encoding these molecules are all located in the MHC class II gene region. In non-mammalian vertebrates such as chickens, only a single class II α-chain gene corresponding to the human DRA has been ...

Hypomethylation of MHC class II Eb gene is associated with expression
Immunogenetics, 1992Methylation patterns in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II Eb locus have been analyzed in cell lines representative of different cell types; in particular those with phenotypes found at various stages of B cell development. A series of variant B cell lymphoma lines which serves as a model in which to investigate mechanisms regulating ...
