Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Small RNA sequencing reveals a role for sugarcane miRNAs and their targets in response to Sporisorium scitamineum infection

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2017
Background Sugarcane smut caused by Sporisorium scitamineum leads to a significant reduction in cane yield and sucrose content. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in regulating plant responses to biotic stress.

The expression of IGFBP-5 in the reproductive axis and effect on the onset of puberty in female rats

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2022
Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-5 (IGFBP-5) has recently been shown to alter the reproductive capacity by regulating insulin-like growth factor (IGF) bioavailability or IGF-independent effects. The present study aimed to investigate the effect

Factors controlling accuracy of genomic selection in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) : W528 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Wong and Bernardo (2008) showed in a simulation study that genomic selection could increase the rate of genetic gain in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis). In order to estimate the accuracy of genomic selection in a real breeding program, we applied a cross ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Dietary Erucic Acid Induces Fat Accumulation, Hepatic Oxidative Damage, and Abnormal Lipid Metabolism in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition
Erucic acid (EA) in rapeseed oil has adverse effects on terrestrial animal and fish health. However, its antinutritional role in fish remains unclear due to the limited information on EA.

Effect of PRE-Herbicide Treatments on Weed Management, Cotton (Gossypium Hirsutum L.) Yield and Fiber Properties

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
There are few registered pre-emergence herbicides in cotton and the growers usually apply the herbicides fluometuron, pendimethalin and s-metolachlor. However, other herbicides such as flurochloridone, flumioxazin and the premixture pendimethalin plus ...

Genome sequencing and genetic breeding of a bioethanol Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain YJS329

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2012
BackgroundEnvironmental stresses and inhibitors encountered by Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains are the main limiting factors in bioethanol fermentation. Strains with different genetic backgrounds usually show diverse stress tolerance responses.
