Choice of parents for developing two line hybrids in rice (Oryza sativa L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
An investigation was carried out to evaluate two line hybrids in rice for yield traits. Four TGMS lines and eleven testers were crossed in line x Tester design.

Genome-wide analyses on transcription factors and their potential microRNA regulators involved in maize male fertility

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2021
Anther development is a programmed biological process crucial to plant male reproduction. Genome-wide analyses on the functions of transcriptional factor (TF) genes and their microRNA (miRNA) regulators contributing to anther development have not been ...

DEVELOPMENT OF MELON F1 SEEDS BASED ON LINES WITH GENIC MALE STERILITY

open access: yesОвощи России, 2015
The perspective technology of development of melon of F1hybrids seeds by use maternal lines with an original form of genic mail sterility and marker trait (lobed leaves) was studied.

How Do Y-Chromosomes Modulate Genome-Wide Epigenetic States: Genome Folding, Chromatin Sinks, and Gene Expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Y chromosomes of Drosophila melanogaster and D. simulans contain only a handful of protein-coding genes, which are related to sperm mobility and reproductive fitness.

Male sterility and fertility behavior of suspected thermosensitive genic male sterile (TGMS) lines

open access: yes, 1998
This article 'Male sterility and fertility behavior of suspected thermosensitive genic male sterile (TGMS) lines' appeared in the International Rice Research Notes series, created by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) to expedite communication among scientists concerned with the development of improved technology for rice and rice-based ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Mitochondrial genetics of alloplasmic male-sterile Brassica napus lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Reliable and economical production of hybrid (F1) varieties requires efficient means to control pollination. The predominant system for pollination control of most field crops today is cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS).

MicroR159 regulation of most conserved targets in Arabidopsis has negligible phenotypic effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND A current challenge of microRNA (miRNA) research is the identification of biologically relevant miRNA:target gene relationships. In plants, high miRNA:target gene complementarity has enabled accurate target predictions, and slicing of target ...

Genic Male Sterility Found in Beta maritima L.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Breeding, 1972
A genic male sterile mutant was found in the wild beet, Bata maritima L. Its causal gene was designated as ms and is different from the gene a1 which was previously reported in sugar beets. The gene ms has an independent relationship with the genes X and Z which manifest their restoration effect with a plasmagene S for male sterility.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
